New T3/T04E Hybrid turbo

Simple.
Will this turbo work for me?

The mods I have on my car are listed in my profile.

I will be using stock injectors.

As far as the other mods needed to make this run, are irrelavent at this time. I will have supporting components for a turbo 420a. 8-10 lbs of boost will be apart of my build.

Thank you for the speedy response. The price is almost too good to pass up.

I never trust something as vital as that being its a knock off. I have seen too many things that are made in overseas and imported here and sold for cheap just to have it take a crap and then you find its impossible to get service parts let alone parts that will hold up. You might get lucky and it survive a respectable amount of time but I really doubt it.

Well this sucks :( guess its back to waiting

Why not go with something proven>? It doesn't appear your looking for crazy power as your not built, so hunt for a good S16g?

I sold my s20g with under 1000 miles to 99gstracer and he posted it up for sale in the 4g63 classifieds for a really good price if you want to check it out.

Right on those points. I dont know much about turbos only what I know is what I learn on here and on the all mighty GOOGLE. Gonna check out the classifieds.

The biggest problem is finding a turbo manifold that supports an internal wastegate without having a shop rape me to make me the manifold and downpipe.

what are the plans for the car? because you can easily get away with an ebay manifold. ill probably get flamed for this but if you aren't looking for a drag car, just get an ebay manifold..

I ran an ebay cast T3 log manifold on my RS and had no issues with it, so you'll be fine with one. It had an external wastegate, but you could always make a block off plate if you want to run an internally gated turbo.

^^What he said. Cast manifold + Block off plate is the cheapest and easiest solution. Block off plates can be just some thick sheet metal with holes in it if you want.

I have 3 of those turbos!! They are the 1st stage upgrade turbo for a 2.3 Ford turbo.

On the Turbo Ranger I have it set for 18psi and it has 30-40k miles on it.

But with Evil-Bay turbos it is hit and miss, some fail right out the box, some work decent....

The 2nd one I have needs rebuilt, bought it off, dare I say, a honda boi, had it on the car for less than 2 miles and went to puking oil into the exhaust and intercooler.

The 3rd one has not been bolted up, I got it in a trade for a backup turbo for the ranger.

But if you go search ebay for "2.3 Turbo Ford" you will get a ton of them with oil feed line for less than $200 shipped

Thanks for the info I'll look into it

This is what I'm going with, after countless searching nad back and forth debate, its time to do something Some of you will wish my luck, some of you will wait for the part out to follow. Either way its a learning experiance.

Estimated Time To Completion without giving you the info you dunno need to know. Mid March. 2012

I'm purchasing a 18g from a forum member who rebuilds them. An 18g is fine for my 420a right

Depends on what 18G you're looking at. Tons of different turbine housing choices- some which would never fit the manifolds available for your car. Some are internally-gated, some require the use of an external gate.

just when I thought the turbo searchwas over.... It began. Again......
