my buddy wanted to know should he get a gst or a gs and upgrade it to a turbo. And if so, what all would you need to make it a turbo. Could you buy a turbo, turbo exhaust manifold, turbo downpipe, and catback exhaust and make it work like in a 2g turbo (stage 1 300hp setup.) Thats also including the rest of stage 1 stuff.

you talkin 1g or 2g??

either way it'll be better for him to start with a car that has a turbo.

Im gonna ssume he means 2G since he owns one...

none of the turbo parts work in our cars. star and hahn make turbo kits.
if your talkin 1G then your better off starting with the turbo since you need to change alot of stuff just to get the NT engine to perform close to the Turbo one.

since he is starting fresh i would tell him to get a turbo car first. If I had a choice I would have got the turbo car. Unless he will have the money to get atleast the turbo kit and possibly the internals, Id say go for the GST.

Unfortunatly I am going to have to disagree...........

While the 4G63 is a good motor, how many of them do you know are broke down? Or break regularly? This is my point, and lets not forget the almighty Crankwalk (not that big of a deal). I only bring it up because I can't see myself spending 5k to make my car quick and have the thing walk on me, just isn't happening.

While the 420A has it's disadvantages in the stock form, but everything can be improved on. New internals, new intake manifold, new TB, new cams, lifters, springs, retaines, etc.....

To be hoenst this might creat some controversy, and while I by no means say the 4G63 sucks, because it dosen't it is time tested and proven. The 420A has as much capabilities to be as strong and it's a realitivly new motor design. Remember the 4G63 has been around for years. Just making points, I bought my car to make it turbo because I sat down and did my research for a long time. Things to think about!

if your friend has any worries swap about the engine in the 2g in a stock 6 bolt for around $1000 (assuming you do the labor) and run 450hp on the stock internals.
