Megasquirt wins and will always win unless you are just going for simplicity.
Endless tuning options, running your wiring anyway you want, cheaper, upgradeable...Im sure theres probably more.

I usually hate telling people to read but ummm...this has been covered numerous times with only one outcome every time. I dont have either and havent looked for it but just by stumbling across it, I know this information.

I'll add that MS Can control just about anything you'd need it to. It's only con is that if you have no clue what you are doing, there aren't many shops that can work with it. DO YOUR HOMEWORK in other words.

PF isnt that expensive when you know what your dooing you canmake your own mounting system, also it does offer a tad bit of tuning ability. Granted not as much as MS but there is still possibilties, add slightly colder spark plugs and youll be good for some boost... i used plugs that were 2 steps colder, and i maxed out the boost capabilities of my portfueler at a stage 5 cal. And it was about 27 lbs of boost.....

not really true, bc your controlling a completely different set of injectors, safc would be fighting with your stock ecu on your primary injectors, and yes MS is pretty much a cheap standalone as far as price would go. But i dont consider PF to be like safc.... bc you can run your car like normal, and have PF and no safc at all. so yeh...

Megasquirt all the way. MS can control ignition timing as well as fuel and lots of other goodies. Symtech offers a base map to tune from, its a bit rich but really not that hard to work with. If you have a CPU/laptop, MS is the way to go.

Not to mention install is cake. Plus, you cannot really tune with Portfueler. You can, sorta, but its the backwards method just like a FMU-throw excessive fuel at it, and raise boost accordingly to keep yourself in the "Safe operating range" meanwhile never really tuning your car for its best potential.

If you really wanna tune you need a standalone for the 420a. Thats my opinion!

Portfueler isnt too bad if you have a DIS2, i mean granted there pricy but if your like me and found one on ebay for $190, aint too bad. And i set up my Pf a lil differently, i bought mine with just injectors, the box, stage 5 cal. and tach adaptor. But bc i have the OBX intake i fab'd a mounting system that acutally turned out pretty good. And with 2 step colder plugs, i hit the max of 27lbs of boost at 50psi of fuel, no knock and no lean conditions. God i love that feeling of accleration!

I run MS-II which is great and would always chose it above portfueler but be ready for alot alot of headaches! It is not the easiest thing to tune with since there is sooo many parameters that needs to be correct and so many diff ways of achieving the same results but with diff inputs, that its hard to use some elses .msq but its always a good start. I have been dinking around with mine for over two years on and off during the summers and I still dont have a steady town cruising but thats another story just wanted you to know MS is the best for our situation, but be prepared for alot of reading
