What do you guys think of these manifolds?

I can't see anything but a black page.

But basically make sure the flange is braced to the block for support. And that he used 341 steel and not 304 for the majority of the job.

The one in the first picture looks to be great quality. But a picture can only take you so far. Like Bigrand said be sure it's made with 341 steel.

You made a mistake though, by asking for opinions/information on this manifold after you bought it. You'll end up regretting alot of decisions on that path.

Again, the pic looks good.

EDIT:

That's funny, right after I initially posted I realized that's the same person who I got my manifold from. Very nice people. However the collector for the runners to the turbo flange developed a crack after several months(it's patched now).

My manifold isn't the prettiest thing ever, but it gets the job done just fine.

One more thing, I don't know if they've changed, but the main flange that all of the runners are welded to on mine needed alittle extra fabrication on the lefthand side above the #1 runner. The design on the block sticks out a bit, which would have caused it to not seal properly without grinding the flange down a bit.

Says on the manifold page if anything cracks or warps, he'll replace it for free and pay shipping. Wonder if they'll live up to that guarantee?

I am interested to see how these manifolds hold up, I might consider buying one. Can't beat that price if you are weld-deficient. :rocks:

P.S. Not to jack this thread, but how do you reinforce/brace the manifold to the block?

The welds aren't the best, but the customer service is something I cannot complain about one bit. I'm sure he will live up to the guarentee that he will replace/fix anything wrong with the manifold. They're great people.

Well as long as the Customer Service is there and he will definately fix itif something does occur. The manifold looks like itll work, may run into a fitment issue on the side where the Thermostat housing is. I know the flange i used had to be grinded down because it was hitting the thermo housing and wouldnt bolt up correctly. Good luck.

I guess I should be careful how I word this.

On tubular manifolds, they usually have a bar or 2 that goes from flange A, (connects to the blocK) to flange B, (connects to the turbo.)

I don't really like that design. The turbo flange should be offset to the driver side, not passanger side. That manifold looks like it was made for the neon. You may run into fitment issues with the downpipe. I always wondered why the Hahn manifold had the turbo flange centered and then I realized(I actually don't know if this is true or not but its a hunch) that they would do that if they used the same manifold for the neon and the eclipse, cutting down on costs. Just my 2 cents on the subject though.

Then they could built a tight radius Downpipe that would plumb into your factory pipe.....sounds liek money making idea huh...LOL Honestly you are ###### right Chris. That manifold looks terrible, welds are sloppy and poorly done. Flange will not work to that side.

This picture looks like one of the pics from out of GSGoinFast's write up.

I've got the manifold, despite the pic, the flange was welded to the driver side. I've had 0 problems with the welds that came on the manifold. I did have a problem with the main collector, which cracked. However, it had been personally fabricated by a friend of mine.

I wrote them an email a few days ago asking this:

Hello, if I was to order one of your 420a manifolds, would it be possible to get the turbo flange mounted offset to the driver's side instead of the passenger side? Also, if my manifold did happen to crack, is it true I could send it back for a new one (according to your guarantee)? How long does this guarantee last? Thanks alot.

I got this response:

We can mount the flange anywhere you want it. Our guarantee is for 1 year as long as you do not use any muffler or heat wrap on the manifold and as long as you do not modify the manifold in any way.
Thanks

Seems like an okay deal to me, especially for $200. Lets hope they have a new design that doesn't require any fabrication like DSMcrazy3's.

I was avoiding this thread because I didn't have any personal experience with Forced Air Reasearch manifolds; but all along I just wanted to say "suck it up and buy a Street Source manifold." Your manifold is one of the most critical and expensive parts in a turbo kit: for an extra $100 you can have a little peace of mind knowing that you have a quality piece, with excellent welds, more than sufficient bracing around the flanges, and a lifetime warranty.

could you two who have manifolds from Street Source, please provide photos? good quality photos... cause thats the only binding thing that keeps me from stuff is I dont get to see what I'm buying.
