Okay my car has been sitting in my garage for 2 months now im losing faith for my dsm. the dealer diagnosed it with a rod knocking noise. I removed the oil pan and inspected, rods look fine, pistons look fine, bearings feel right, I am clueless now as to what it is. But it so happens my uncle is selling his 97 trans am. How much do you think i could get for my car in this condition. it runs but still has that noise.

Mods.
Suspension: Eibach springs, AGX shocks, Front and Rear strut bars
Brakes: Brembo replacement drilled rotors, hawk hps pads
Motor: Stock internals, Star Stage 2 turbo kit, AFX underdrive pulley, MSD ignition
Exhaust: stock star downpipe with welded flex piece in it, stock cat, tanabe cat back
Wheels: SSR Competition 18" look amazing with silver pait on my car. tires have like at least 3/4 tread
Exterior: Stock body, Turbo emblem on painted middle piece of rear tail lights, color matched to car, Hood cut out just above air filter right on beginning of bumb in our hoods (ram air), black mesh grille in front, after market fog lights
Interior: pair of Racing seats, harnesses, short shifter, greedy shift knob, momo removable steering wheel, autometer guages EGT, Boost, Air/Fuel, Custom sub sunken into where spare use to be, Infinity speakers and sub with alpine head unit.
The Car: Silver paint, sunroof was leather, Dynoed at 193whp and 173lbs/ft

I could either spend 6gs on a new motor from howell or i can sell this for however much what do u guys think like 3grand realistically b/c of the motor. Then i will buy my uncles trans am for like 5gs

I tried to do pics but they wont work

Man, trust in eclipse if that is what you really want, My car is and still has been out for the past 5 months, and its only this week that I might, might be getting it back! That is all summer, during the racing season. I had to stunt in my moms caddilac this summer, wasnt' what I planned.
But yes granted its a lot of cash, you could have your motor fully built for under 4grand, and not six. But it really is up to you if its worth it to you, or if you see yourself in your uncles trans am rather than your own eclipse.
Eclipses will mess with ya, 420a 4g63 it don't matter, once you start modding, something is bound to go wrong, and so it really is up to you.
I found myself just into deep with my project to back out now, But in a few months I do plan on getting me a substitue vehicle to mess around with. Something Rwd, that is non turbo, and can get me around town, but in a fun way.

Iti'll be sad to see you go, but at the sameime I have to understand, If I had known my sweet eclipse would have been sitting for 5months, I probably would have sold it before the rebuild, but I'm glad I went through with it, because I learned alot about eclipses during the process, and actually like the idea of making something go from 121whp-300whp.

My next sweet ride will have to be an upgrade, from an eclipse, to maybe a supra, or somethiing a little more exotic.

Rebuild it.

You won't get shit for it with a rod knock.

This is just going to get ugly. This isn't going to turn into ANOTHER "How much is my DSM worth" thread.

Rebuild it and sell it.
