im having problems cranking up the boost on my 98 eclipse nt to turbo conversion..whenever i get on it its fine til it reaches 5k til 7k rpms..it really hesitates and starts bucking..feels aweful and unhealthy so i just get off the gas..is this fuel cut..or do non turbo engines even have fuel cut..i have 550 injectors and an afc but its def not tuned so im guessing thats a major factor to..but could the fuel cut be a problem..thanks

For starters, I think you're in the wrong forum. Why did you post this in the 1GNT forum?

Cranking the boost up from what to what? How did you "convert to turbo?"

This definitely sounds fuel related to me. 2GNTs DO have fuel cut. If the MAP sensor sees any positive manifold pressure (read; boost), it will cut the fuel. In this situation, the ECU will cut fuel at any time. DO you have the supporting mods to turn up the boost? Furthermore, what kind of boost are you looking to run with those injectors? 550s sound a bit on the high side for anything less than 10-12lbs on a HRC kit if you ask me.

I've been in a boosted 2GNT at fuel cut. It's not so much a bucking, but a feeling of smooth acceleration that is cut short. It feels like you have a rubber band tied to the back of the car and all of the sudden, you've reached the end of it. You feel held back. Granted, everytime this happened, the driver immedaitely let off the gas. Others liken it to hitting a wall. I don't know where the factory fuel limiter is on the tach, as I have the AFX/R ECU, but mine is 8300rpm. I can't get there, as the AFX/R I have cuts timing at 7800rpm and she gets stutterbox on me.

I guess I should ask what FCD you're running too. Need a bit more information imo.

We can all safely say this isn't a fuel cut issue. Fuel cut is a HARSH loss in power, like hitting a brick wall. This seems to me like a tuning or boost leak issue. Check for boost leaks and get a wideband for tuning or just guess and check some of the airflow numbers on your SAFC or what-not. Your main question has been answered, so give them a try.

I was having the same problem, before I upgraded to 370cc injectors, now here is my question for you. What kind of FMU do you have. Because with the bigger injectors and SAFC, you should be using an SFMU right?

Check both your low throttle tuning and hi throttle tuning on the SAFC, and check what percentage they are supposed to kick in and then look over at the 2gnt faq and find how to tune using SAFC

also check your spark plug gap when you are turbo they should be around .035. i had mine at the factory .050 and had the same problem. i changed the gap and that made the bad stuff go away :thumb:
