I went to the track last night at Atco my best run was a 15.3 at 96mph. I could not get a good launch to save my soul my 60' was 2.7. I need some tips on how to drive these cars. Well on my last run i got boost hungry and cranked it up, so im going down the track flying and i look over and read 15psi so i let off it immediedltly, but damn that would have been a good run but not worth blowing it up for. So please somebody help me drive this thing. At least i wasnt as bad as my friend who ran 15s in his evo hahaha I beat and evo once! ROFL

Ditto on this post, I need to practice launching asap before the I head to the track.

I was racing my buddy's GSR Civic Hatch, and bogged it on the launch, so he took off ahead of me, caught him in 1st, and missed shifted to second gear, because of my stupid tranny fluid or something. I just put in a shortshifter and shifter bushings that day too. I went to the dealer that day to have them change out my tranny fluid for the dealer stuff they put in, it helped a little, but car is still hard to get it in to second.

Either way I'd like to break 15sec at the track, help us

just practice getting the best launch possible with out breaking traction. what do you think stop signs are for?

Rand... keep blaming it on the short shifter ROFL no i know the short shifter and bushings take some getting used to, i kept missing gears when i first got them too

Yeah actually its been getting a lot better, I think the gears are starting to like the TRANS-AXLE FLUId that was put in. School is over on wed, and I get tuned friday, so I got the whole summer to practice.

And Civib2, I don't think your 18's are helping you much down the track.

Id say slipping the clutch would be the best way to launch it, if you dont mind shortening the clutch life a bit. :p

Personally, I hold the revs at about 3500, and dump the clutch. Im sure there are much better ways to do it, but I know Im most likely going to spray as soon as I hit second, so it doesnt matter as much if I bog it a little. :shhh:

yeah im sure the 18s dont help but they only weigh 15lbs each, but i do want to get some slicks and put them on think it would help? or should i not waste my money and just put my stock front ones back on and use those 16s

What 18s do you have that only weigh 15lbs each?

Anyway, if I were you, Id save all that money, and just concentrate on launching technique. Do you lose all traction with a 4k clutch dump?

wow, I thought with a turbo setup the car would run faster. Grant it the amout of wheel spin factoring in doesnt help. But I ran a 15.9 with factory wheels and tires with basic bolton's. I hope I can get at least a high 14 at least. Its nice because I have a .57 trim so by the time I'm out of the hole spinning the turbo should be finally spooling up :)

The turbo set up does help a lot, it all depends on what your previous NT times were. My car because it was a GS aniversasary edition, fully loaded and with my subs still in the car ran 16's and sometimes low 17's when I was NA, low 15's sound wonderful to me with only 5lbs of boost, and I hope to hit 14's with 8lbs(tuned), but thats enough bench racing for me, I'll let you guys know the real deal in a couple of weeks.
Everyone has their own goals and abillities, practice practice practice.

i dislike dumping the clutch because i get wheel hop. go figure. fwd cars suck, i'm not racing again until i get my new car.

motor mount inserts... $30, eliminates wheel hop

Yeah not to bench race but hopefully with my setup and some luck at the track Ill get a 14 when its all said and done. Then the forged internals go in later this summer and Ill crank up the boost to 10-12 lbs be praying for a high 13

wow one race and your ready to quit racing your car. how you expect to get better if you quit before learning anything.
your human just like me and the other guys who can launch the hell out of a fwd. all it takes is practice.
like the guy said just drive around late night launching at every stop light. thats how i learned. i would just do the launch than 1-2 shift than drive normal until the next light.

heres a tip. launch at the highest rpm with out crazy wheel spin, but you do want some wheel spin.

i rev to 3k and have my foot on the pedal so that it stays at 3k. once i am able to keep it steady, i keep my foot frozen in that position. than just dump the clutch. you want to hear a high pitched squeeling from the tires. that how you know it launched right. ussually when you over spins the squeeling sound is a much lower pitch.

than as soon as i dump the clutch i count one mississipi than floor it. If you spin too much, dump the clutch from a lower rev.

i also have my suspension so that the front is lower tha the rear. to keep the weight in the front. just like most honda racers you see. looks nice and helps alot. that one suspension adjustment stopped my wheel hop. i have my front droped about one inch lower than the rear.
i have coilovers, but if you have lowering springs you can just cut one coil of the front springs. don't cut stock coils.

the car seem to handle better in every way. (straight line or taking turns)
