I don't even know where to begin. I guess I'll just make it as short as possible and to the point. I've been involved with dsm's for a long time. I have a very large supply of spare parts, new and used.
My cousin bought a galant gsx about a month ago ( his 3rd dsm and his first n/t). One day we decided we were going to fix some exhaust leaks. We were checking some stuff out and we found that the manifold was cracked in about 4 places and was impossible to repair and we didnt have a spare manifold. So what did we do? We turbo'd that bi***.
It took us a total of 6 hours and 20 some minutes. We converted from a 90 n/t ecu to a 92 turbo ecu. We even hooked up a 2g turbo fuel pump, 2g mas, safc2, afpr, fuel pressure gauge, water sprayer for the intercooler, boost gauge, eliminated all of the emissions bs, and some other miscelaneous stuff. Literally ALL of the information that we need to complete this conversion was right here on dsmtuners. We spent about 30 minutes with our buddy the search button. Took down some notes and went to work.
I've read so many posts on here about how much trouble people have with the wiring and some of the other little things. Are some people really that ignorant? I know absolutely nothing about wiring, and it took like 30 minutes to wire in the resistor pack, re-pin the ecu, wire the safc, and wire the 2g mas.
The car boosts to 9 psi with no knock. I wouldnt consider it fast or even quick but its faster and quicker than it was yesterday. None of us have driven a dsm with stock boost levels in years so we have nothing to compare it to.
We have some bets going on how long the engine is going to last since it has 191,000 on it. If it lasts another two weeks we're going to spray a 50 shot right after the intercooler.
We picked the car up about a month ago with a " bad transmission" which turned out to be a loose shifter cable bracket and worn shifter bushings. Not a bad deal for $300. I think there is like a total of around $600 into the whole vehicle including the original purchase.
So all of you guys that are about to turbo your n/t theres no reason to post any questions about wiring or turbo conversion basics. It's all right here on this site all you have to do is search for it.
