I touched the search button to death... haha. I was looking for info on piecing a custom turbo setup. There really is a lot of crap to filter out when tryign to search for info. Anyway... i still need some guidance so i figured i'll inquire on info on only one or two pieces required to turbo a 420a.

With that said.... lets see some pictures and of custom manifolds, or purchased manifolds, and corresponding info (turbos that fit, things required to make a turbo fit on a custom mani, internal/external wastegates... etc.). And anythign else you guys want to add to the manifold topic, especially making your own. If you guys come up with anything good searching post here also.

Thanks,
Dave

damn i knew i forgot something LOL.

i got them from http://www.mcmaster.com/ . i cant link you directly because of the way there catalog works. but ill tell you how to get there.

on the left column, it will say "Pipes, tubing, hose and fittings". the first thing under that says "Pipe and pipe fittings" click on that. then click on "Iron and steel pipe fittings and pipe". there will be a little button towards the top of the page that says catalog pages. click that. when the catalog index pops up, click page 38. scroll down to the "Unthreaded steel butt-weld pipe fittings and pipe. you need to get two 1.5 inch diameter long elbows, and two 1.5 inch tee's. ill explain the rest in my write-up

hey bro your going to have a fitment problem with that manifold, i just found out tonight. on the left side of the flange there is something on the block(didnt really pay attention to what it was) that the flange hits. its right above the bottom passanger side bolt, and if you look at any header for us, there flanges, will have that section is cut in. your going to have to grind it out a little bit. if you go look at your engine you will see what im talking about. otherwise the flange wont sit flat on the head :thumb:

wait.... b/c of the flang issue, im assuming the piece you welded the piping into isnt from a stock manifold? But then again i could have just misunderstood the whole flang thing. If it isnt form a stock manifold... where did you pick it up from. Thanks, Dave

sweet... dude i'm so hype... i'm gonna have a turbo manifold for abotu $55, and i'm gonna have a friend professionaly weld it together.

yep basically :thumb: and people spend 300+ on manifolds. There excuse is R&D, now there are some exceptions, but if it isnt a cast made manifold it gonna be just liek the one yoru putting together. just make sure you get the right ID on your tubing.
