OK so i have a n/t 420a right. so i wanna buy the star stage 2 turbo kit for it. everything is cool EXCEPT that my DAD completely ignores what i say and says that there is no way that turbo kit is going to do anything for my car. also he says it wouldnt do ANYTHIN if you upgrade your turbo as he says "a turbo can only give u MAX of 30% gain" (any kind of turbo) can anyone give me like a link to a website or a thread or maybe someone has some dyno sheets they can post.?
P.S. he is gonna be readin this so dont like go all out with cuss words or anythin. thanks.

Forcing air into an engine takes that total volume of air up boost pressure + Atmospheric pressure, which at sea level is aprox 14.7lbs.

Add 8psi to that and you have a total increase of (14.7+8)/14.7 - 1 = 55% increase in total volume of air.

Since air and fuel is measured in ratios of each other you can use up aprox 55% more fuel to create that much more power.

You wont make 55% more power cause of other limitation that are on your stock motor made for that lower out put, but the power will increase.

Their is no limit to how much power a turbo can produce.

My first turbo car was a 98 Neon with a hahn stg2 kit. I went from a 9.9-10 1/8th mile to a 9.3-9.4 1/8th at only 5.5psi.

"a turbo can only give u MAX of 30% gain" is a completely ignorant and uneducated (in making power that is) thing to say.

I tried to simplify everthing, and I hope this helps.

Most the guys on here who do turbo kit upgrades get at least gain of twice the HP they had before the kit.

You will make more if you change out pistons and drop the static compression ratio...

Even more if you buy a crankwalked GSX and start from sq 1 with a 6bolt... sorry I'm biased and with the price I have seen early non running 2g AWD's in need of some wrenching by someone who knows DSM's I can't help but suggest it..
