Here are two questions that I can't say I have ever heard someone who has put a turbo on their N/T answer, that is: How much did you spend for everything that was required to turbo it? And, has it been stable for you so far?

And maybe there are a million posts on here, but I haven't seen any so I figured that I would ask....

ok ready to get told to use the search .

you could spend anywhere from the 1500( what cost me ) vs 3k ( the kit ) . Not including installation .

Reliability will be how well you take care of the car and the quality of the install and not having to much fun . It will also be plain luck , some cars go to crap , and others dont .

i would think that if you keep the car at pretty low boost unless your at the track, you wouldent have any big problems, im trying to find this out too, because im thinking of going turbo, but need something reliable.

Yeah, well right now I am looking at the supercharger thing, currenty I have yet to find an actual kit for it; however, they do have kits so that you can adapt a GM-3800 supercharger (GM - General Motors) and those superchargers are pretty cheap and can be found around every corner....I do not know of anyone who has actually done it, but I am looking at it right now...they are a lot easier to install, and maintain...the only real downside to them is that they rob you of a little bit of power because of the belt thing...

see what you can find out about the supercharger, becuase im interested in this too, dsm + super = :thumb: , this is so because we learry have no poewr below 3500 rpm, super gives you power everywhere, whereass turbo only in the higher rpms. the kit 900 bucks , and the super would be around 200 so total like 1100, thats way better than a 3000 dollar turbo kit. plus youd be one of the few if not only eclipse rs with supercharger.

supercharged would be cheaper, and power would be well distributed, turbo would sustain at higher levels longer

Well, I know that they have those 1000 dollar alluminum plates that allow you to adapt the gm 3800...but i think I would be able to have them machined for a lot cheaper...after that though, another problem looks like the belt..there is hardly any room for the belt to run up, because the supercharger is mounted on the intake and apparently goes directly into the engine which sucks because that means you wouldn't be able to do anything else with it...intercooler, dual charging, etc....but it would still give you a lot more power

Another option would be to build your own setup, just get a head unit somewhere and hook something up...i have seen that one done, people say that they have problems with the belts breaking but I think that if you ran a belt to a rod and then ran the rod directly to the head unit you would be all set...and then from there of course you would be able to run the supercharger to wherever...intercooler, turbo charger, the works....

But of course I am probably very wrong....but the great thing about installing a supercharger is that there is hardly any parts required and could be done in like a half hour assuming that you wouldn't have to fabricate anything...and it is more reliable especially since the only real reason that I want forced induction is to have more power, I don't race or anything other than a little bit of the stop-light dragging but i am racing against stock cavaliers, and hondas, and that is really about it.....

i'ld be interested to see how a supercharger would work on our cars, but that's as long as the rod doesn't get screwed up by doing it. One more thing to worry about
