I'm currently bulding up a kit that a friend is going to put together and weld, etc for me, consisting of:

Stock Talon T-25 Turbo
Stock Talon Fuel Pump
Stock Talon BOV (1st gen)
Stock Talon Intercooler
FMU
Gauges
all the small stuff

The thing im going to need is an exhaust manifold for the 420a

I've seen some built ones and they are expensive. My friend told me he can do one, but are there any designs or directions on making a good one? Anyone have any ideas?

He told me the most "basic" design that will work is just a straight pipe running across, with the four openings welded into it, but that will be really ugly too, so if anyone has any ideas, lemme know.

Thanks

All of the 420a turbo exhaust manifolds that I know about have a flange for either a t3/t4 or 16g/20g type turbo. I don't know of any 420a turbo exhaust manifolds setup for a t25 (anybody out there know of one?). So if you do this, it will have to be custom.

Other than the turbo/intercooler (well, not in your case) the exhaust manifold is usually the most expensive component. So you may have to end up forking out some $$$ to get this part of the install done. You might try and ask this guy if he could build you a custom exhaust manifold.

The manifold he uses looks really nice, and he might be able to make one that will fit to a t-25. If you make the manifold yourself, the main thing to consider is making each runner equal in length. I will look around the internet and see if I can't find any T-25 manifolds and post them here if I find any. If not, it looks like this might have to end up a custom manifold...

Well, I found this kit online.

http://www.turbo-kits.com/eclipse_turbo_kits.html

And they supposedly have this kit for the 420a engine. This kit uses the t-25 turbocharger. Try and contact that website and see if they could get you a price quote on just the exhaust manifold - and make sure they're quoting you for the t-25 manifold and not a t3/t4 manifold/20g manifold. Here's a picture of that kit.

That's a good chunk of change OMG

If your friend can fabricate you a decent enough exhaust manifold then that would be a good inexpensive way to go. From what I can see in the picture, the manifold from that internet site looks pretty good - wish they had more pictures though :(

yea for real

My friend has plenty of experience in this area so it should be no prob for him. He has succesfully turboed his chevy S-10 to run high 14s on low boost, so hes doing something right LOL. It should be all good. I'll keep everyone updated on the process! thanks man

arent those two turbos the same size? I dun omaybe they arent. The reason I'm going with the T-25 to start off is because I'm getting one from a friend for REALLY cheap, and maybe later if I want it quicker I will switch to the 16g or someting like that.

The 14b is a bit bigger then the hellishly small t-25, and has quite a bit more potential for topend power. But if the price is right for the t-25 (damn near free) then you can't really complain I would guess :thumb:
