Hey guys, I just changed my transmission oil last night, with the correct oil, atf+4. I was hoping it would solve my clunky shifts. I have searched but all I can find is replace shift bushings but those look completely fine. The problem is that when I go into any gear it is very hard to get it there. Like the throw is rough and I have to put a lot of effort into changing gears. Also when I go into reverse it makes the loudest "clunk" ever. The 2 talons I had have made that clunk, is this common? Also I have a short shifter properly installed but it was like this before the short shifter. Any ideas of what this could be?

Is this just me being spoiled? I learned to drive stick in my bros Celica GT-S and his throws are as smooth as butter.

When's the last time your shifter bushings were replaced?

What is the condition of your rear & front tranny mounts?

I am not to sure when they were replaced. But they are not messed up at all and look to be in pretty decent condition. Also, my front tranny mount is off at the moment because we just did some work that required it to be off. Note, I am NOT driving the car without the mount hah

Make sure your clutch isn't dragging. (put the car on a flat surface, take the brake off, start the car put it in first, let it warm up, and then rev the car all the way to redline (7k ish) with your clutch pedal depressed all the way to the floor, and if it moves your clutch is dragging)

Alright I will try this when I get home, but would that cause these rough throws?

It would because it damages synchros if you drive with a dragging clutch. I got lucky when this happened to me (it was wierd how i found out about it but nvm) because first gear was the only one that was hard to get into.

Well I actually haven't driven this hardly at all. So it would be the previous driver to ruin it. The car has been sitting for awhile. Could it somehow just need some driving time to loosen up? Ive only had it on a few times to move it a few feet

When's the last time you checked/changed the fluid in the clutch reservoir and bled the slave? That might be an area to look into.
