98-99 Computer Urgent !

Does anybody know ifa 1999 computer will fit ina 1998 eclipse i have found 2 in the junk yard a 1995 and a 1999..

the 1995 plugs are diff i think because its obd1

but does anybody know if a 1999 will fit in a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse gs 5 spd

yeah it will work as long as the ecu is for a manual trans. Any ecu from 1997-1999 will work. I needed one for my 97 an I had used one from a 99. You should be fine. Dont go to the dealorship, tooo expensive

o ok cuz i bought a used one and the rev limiter is at 6600 it pisses me off

It could be because it is an automatic ecu.. which one did you replace the ecu or the pcm behing the dash?

my bad.. i ment the pcm in the engine and the ecu behind the dash.. Sorry i was drunk last night..

The auto ECU does redline a 6,6xx RPM so that is what happend to you.

ECU is synonomous with PCM. The PCM/ECU on the 2gnt is under the hood. The transmission control module (TCM) is behind the radio.

I'd think the auto and manual transmissions would NOT work because of the amount of communications between the tcm and pcm that takes place as well as the fault codes.

The 95 is obdII but not required to have all the emissions components like evap leak monitor and such. The connectors are different like you pointed out.
