I've been looking at cams for my N/T and the aftermarket ones. Like HKS. Are exspensive. Just curious. Would it work if I just got a exhaust cam? 264 duration HKS. Would this screw up the engine? I don't know. Just trying to get horsepower.:p

you'll get a gain, but no wheres near as big as a turbo car would with those......and both would be a good idea......make sure you get the basics first though......what other mods do you have?

HKS told me the cams would not work with my NT car....i dont know why this is true because they are the same cams..one just has a MUCH more aggressive grind. I would say go with crower....stage 3 to be exact....www.crower.com the stage 3 cams would give u a pretty decent performance gain on the NT motor, provided that you have some basic flow mods (I/H/E).

No mods at all. I'm getting exhaust put on hopefully before snow falls. I have no job. So, no money.

say if i got the stage 2 cams for my nt, would i have to get the crower valve springs also or could i use factory ones?

would i also need the titanium retainers and cam gears? jeez i hope not, this shit is expensive.

would someone list everything i would need for this little upgrade. im in the process of a full rebuild of my car and wanting to make a few little changes.

you could get just the cams and thats it, install them just fine. it would be a better idea though, both for peace of mind and for performance to get cam gears (im going with AEM) those valve seats (steel or alloy is fine, no need for titanium) and some better valves and springs. basically this is what i am doing....

crower stage 3 cams...the rep from crower told me these cams would perform identical to the stage 2 cams becuase my motor is NT, these cams are ground for T.

crower 1mm oversized valves and springs (steel)

ported head

AEM tru-time adjustable cam gears...

all that work right there is gonna be around 1300 bucks, but it is WELL worth it....those harsh grind cams and oversized valves with ported head will net some nice HP so long as you also have some breather mods. when you add that to a soon to be 10.5:1 engine....WHOA is all i can say, its gonna be one quick NT.:thumb: :dsm:

sounds good, hmm, i think im going to stick w/ the stock valves and pistons and go ahead and get the cams stage 3. now if i got the springs would i need over sized valves? cuz i just replaced my valves w/ stock ones, figured they would work fine. would my stock intake work fine? i think most cold air intakes are BS and i think the stock car can works just as well since i basically took anything that would hold air back out (the sincer and honey comb lookin thing). do u have to mess w/ the timing if u get these cams or something? like "adjust" them? i have about 900 to spend to gain some horsepower. any suggestions? other than what i listed.

stage 3 cams
valve springs and "metal/alloy" retainers

ps, w/ the cam gears... do i need turbo cam gears for these or nt?

anything in particular i could upgrade if by chance i would want to get a turbo or nitrous?

Um... no, things don't work that way.

Keep reading a few more months before making a move and spending money. You may decide against trying to modify that car.

i dont have a few months... not even weeks, my car is being rebuilt and anything i want to add needs to b done now really. im not looking for alot of performance cuz i realize... its not going to happy w/o lots of money but i want better than stock and to run good. alil bit more torque, etc.

should i get adjustable cam gears if im going w/ larger cams or does it matter? cuz these things are expensive and im not going to buy them unless its necessary.

you are getting turbo ground cams so youd want the turbo. as far as cam gears helping performacne with the cams....its all in the way you tune. the cam gears from AEM let you tune your car to the max, especially if you are equipped with an SAFC-2 or another fuel controller of prefrence. as far as adjusting the timing with the new cams....if you get a shop to do the install (which i recommend unless you are pretty confident with your mechanical skills) the car will come back to you in tune. you wouldnt have to mess with it at all from that point if you didnt want to..but the cams and gears are built for adjustable tuning and trying to get teh best possible tune out of your car. if you get the cams and gears it would be a good idea to tune your car on a dyno for a while to get a better tune out of it.
