ok, theres a couple choices out there for me. i just want to know whats best for performance and sound. if you have any of these exhausts on your car, post a pic and tell what you think about it

Greddy Evo- heard it, sceen it, i like it

Hks hi-power- never sceen it, but in pictures, it looks awesome. they don't make it for the n/a but they do for gst. which would fit the n/a. the piping is 2.5 inches so thats not a problem. for this one, i just want to know the sound of it

Thermal R&d- ive been told they have one for the n/a, anyone have a link where i can get one cheap if i decide to go with one.

Apexi n1- umm, all i have heard is it sounds farty.

Custom- anyone done it, worth it or not?

i am halfway through the custom setup. by that i mean that i have the muffler but i havnt gotten new piping yet because im still unsure as to whether im going turbo or staying all motor. custom is the way to go if you are short on money or would rather put the money that you would pay for a brand name into something else. i have an arospeed bomb muffler and it sounds great. i get compliments on it all the time and its kind of hidden from plain sight which i like. its not ricey at all, nice deep tone and gets louder as the rpms get higher. but it all comes down to what you want to do in terms of power and if money matters at all. hope this helped:dsm:

i looked into places to do a custom exhaust for me, there asking 450. kinda redic if you ask me, i thought they were supposed to be cheaper. but ye, just like a stated before, tell we what you guys think of the exhausts i named

Simplest solution: get a OEM GST exhaust. They're good for up to 300hp and they sound great on the 420A.

Custom set up should not be that expensive! You can go to Autozone and pick up a cherry bomb in many different sizes for under $40. Then you can buy the mandrel bends you want in the diameter you want on ebay or at some metal fabricators. Take your glasspack and your bends to a muffler shop and tell them you want it connected. Should be under #250 imo. Install it yourself!

Personally, I have the glasspack and will be cutting the exhaust off after the header. I'll be using the OEM resonator as a muffler with no tip for the sleeper look and it should sound like an SRT for under $100.

If you haven't heard an SRT, go to your Dodge dealer and ask them to start one for you. :thumb:

ditto but I also have a hi-flo cat. when i had the test pipe on it was more of a weedeater-in-a-coffeycan sound but w/ the cat on it sounds nice to me... and i detest the stereotypical honda "did i pass gas or was that my exhaust?" crap

ive been leaning towards the hks hi-power because hks knows there stuff and it looks amazing on 2g's. anyone have advice about it?

Does anyone know what an N1 sounds like?
Is it a deep throaty sound or is it weak and overrated?

Just trying to decide what to get.

Also should I buy the piping and and exhaust seperate and have it put on or should I buy the whole system?

What are your opinions?

thanks much

That wasnt my exhaust. That was actually someone from 2gnt.com.

I have an Apex n1 Universal muffler with hi-flow cat and an HP 4-1 header with 2.5" custom piping.

It sounds alot similiar, but mine is alot deeper on regular street driving. But at driveby it sounds the same.

I have BomZ Full Cat-Back and I love it from 1k - 3.750k... It sounds really deep throaty and smooth! However anything after that
it's all Intake... My exhaust sound sorta fades away!

People tell me that the Hi Flow Cat will solve that by adding some
noise on high RPM's... I have a BomZ Hi Flo and I'ma put it on Monday!
I will tell you guys the results =)

What kinda Hi Flow cat do you have?
Is it kinda like the BomZ? which is straight through and looks more like a test pipe?

No emissions in Florida so I'm good :thumb:

I have a custom exhaust, dual tip muffler, and test pipe...does the same thing as any name brand setup IMO and less than 1/3 the price.

If they're telling you $450 for a custom setup, they're insane. You should be able to find a shop that will weld on any muffler and bend all new 2.5" piping for you for anywhere from $100-$150. Just pick up a universal muffler of your choice off eBay for around $75 and a test pipe for about $30.

What do you mean by test pipe?

I don't quite understand if it is the piping or the catalytic converter.

How does it help also?

A test pipe is just a straight through piece of pipe that bolts in place of your cat converter. Zero restriction.

An exhaust shop won't have anything to do with this because it's illegal (emission controls), but it's very easy to do yourself. You can order one off of eBay or a place like www.testpipe.com for around $30 and 4 bolts later you're done.

Thanks a lot.

I still don't know if I should buy the whole exhaust system or just get the muffler and have the piping done at the muffler shop.

Customizing it would probably be cheaper though.

Thanks for all your help!!

does anyone know if hp racing makes a good cat back exhaust?? im looking at buying one now...

The best Cat back system I had for my 2nd Gen that was overall perfect in sound and performance is the discountinued Dunk Model from Apex'i. It sounds awesome at the same time give you the mid to high end power, although you lose alot of torque, but not the point where you cant launch off the line. I am selling my Dunk Cat back in awesome condition, because I live in Los Angeles now and cops here are anal about everything you do and also I am becoming a cop so rolling up to work in a fixed up eclipse wont be a pretty site although it would be a site for sore eyes.

Anyway in my opinion if you want sound and performance the Dunk is the way to go.

i'm quite surprised no one has said OBX. OBX has some nice shit. i have the obx type h exhaust along with obx header and downpipe. it's nice, it's loud, but really nice loud. i got my obx catback off of ebay for $282 shipped. you should consider obx.
