Removing my exhaust system went from being a one night job to a 2 day job. I'm now down to the very last part SEPERATING THE DOWNPIPE FROM THE CAT!! What a nightmare! They are rusted together so bad they look like it was WELDED. With 200lbs of torque the bolts WON'T BUDGE, the exhaust would twist sooner than the bolts! I've used liquid wrench for 2 days, and CLR on it all day today, those bolts are definatly not comming out...

So anyone who has ever had this problem (I'm sure there are lots) have any ideas? I'm about to the point that I'm getting ready to use my Sawzall inbetween the flanges to separate the cat and DP and just buying new bolts at the hardware store... If the Sawzall doesn't work I'm even considering renting a plasma cutter for an hour...

Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.

torch them intill they get red they should come off. they will either brack or they will twist off

My impact wrench and air ratchet didn't do a d@mn thing, in the end all I could do was get the longest wrench I had and the biggest two extensions I had and "bench press" the damn thing off

I would have used my torch but the entire exhaust is covered in liquid wrench which is really flamable LOL, so umm I didn't want to blow up my car or melt the underside of it so the torch idea was out.

Now I have to get all the Liquid Wrench off of it before I put in the new exhaust (but the parts order didn't go in until yesterday so that means I'll be waiting with no car for 3 days...:(

when the bolts are that bad, you can only cut them apart or possible drill them out, but cutting either weld or sawzall works the best.
