When i bought my 95 GS the guy gave me a turbo along with the vehicle. It is a mitsubishi turbo, TEO4H. Can i use this turbo? Can you also give some of the specs for the turbo itself. I googled the afformentioned number/code and found zero useful information. :|

Are you sure it doesn't say TD04 Instead? if it does that would make it a "13g turbo" it came stock in all automatic 1g. It flows around 360 cfm

If its a TE04 then it came from a 2.2/2.5 Chrysler engine

I went to check out the car and the guy said he had the turbo on for some time and said that his gas mileage got worse while using the turbo, so he removed it. He said he would sell it to me for $200. I said nah, not worth the hassle of getting the parts together.
I almost don't believe that he did have the turbo in the car, based on the fact that the bolts for the factory airbox look like they haven't been touched in a long time...
He told me that I would need to get a turbofold and that i could only find the correct one on ebay, he said dropped his and it cracked.
The turbo seems to be in decent condition with zero shaft play. It does say TEO4H.

*He just threw it in for free with the car for $3500 which was the original price on CL.

Sorry about the low quality on the pictures, can't find my camera. had to use my phone, but when i did search TEO4H on google, it came up with a forum or two dealing with mid/late 90's avengers.

which brings me to my next question, in the future when i get another car as my DD, would this turbo be good to use on a 420a for kicks and giggles? after all, he gave it to me for free... :hellyeah: ..and yes i do understand the difficulty in building your own turbo kit.

As long as you understand its tiny any dont expect to make alot of power with it...I dont have the compressor map handy but I wouldnt expect to go much more than 200hp with that. I wouldnt hesitate to use it on a stock motor with a FMU setup, it should put a bit more pep in your step ;)

Well thank you all for answering my questions. If i ever want a bigger turbo, would i be throwing the parts i put on for the fmu setup. Im guessing I would need stronger internals and definitely upgrade the fuel system. But like in terms of tubing and an IC. Would a front mount work with a small turbo such as this, or would i have to start with a side mount and when i want to go bigger, get a front mount? I think that i read in another thread that it's less efficient using a large IC with a small turbo.

who ever said a front mount intercooler had to be large? i had a greddy 18R on my dsm when i bought it with a T-25 and it worked just fine the concept of a front mount vs a sidemount is that air will blow directly on it instead of through vents which will yeild colder intake air temps. im asuming a 12b and a t-25 are of similar size, i havent heard of a 12b LOL

Btw, if you haven't figured it out, "this guy" is full of baloney.......turbofold....LOL

Yeah i had thought so after taking the car home and doing some investigating... LOL

I just came to the realization that, it would be better to just keep this as a reliable daily driver instead of buying all the parts to try to add power to the car. I figure I might as well save up for a rebuild on this engine when it needs it (it's at 170,7XX right now, runs like jesus for the most part) and a "project" GSX in the future.

Would people think i was weird for having two eclipses? LOL

Another question, how much would do you guys think i could get for that turbo? I can upload more pics if needed to show the condition.

Put it on ebay, probably isnt worth the time or effort, I have 3 of them sitting in a box in the garage. They are not even desireable to the people that own the cars they came off of. All of them would switch to the even older t3 before they would buy another 12b.

After owning several 420a cars, going the turbo route on one and blowing it up, if I had the 4g63 option in an Avenger I would most certainly have taken that. My advice would be to leave it stock and drive it. Enjoy the gas mileage and reliability, and buy a 4g63 car if you want a fast Eclipse.

"Turbofold" is the term used to describe the manifold/turbo combination when a turbine housing is cast into the exhaust manifold. This would be accurate most likely in refference to the Dodge SRT-4 Original equipment manifold which will in fact bolt onto the 420a cylinder head just like it does to a 1g DOHC Neon. It does bolt on to the cylinder head but places the turbo in an unusable position on a 420a car due to interference with the powersteering and radiator hoses, also points the "o2 housing" at the radiator.

I'm aware of what a turbofold is. The comedy part of that was that he wanted the kid to get a turbofold to the bolt the turbo onto it.

I guess if you have to explain it, its not that funny. But it was funny to me, LOL.

I thought you would know what it was, I just read what you wrote as telling him the guy was making up words :p

boost it. just do it the right way, i have a built ass 420a with built bottom end arp studs and the full package, also for easy tuning and decent gas mileage rock the portfueler, my motors in the process of being broke so i can throw the s20g on it an am super stocked to smoke SOME gsx's and gst's :aha:

I'm 17 LOL I don't have money out the ass to build an engine. I'm just gonna save up for a GSX. Besides, I have a lot to learn before I start tearing down and rebuilding engines... :)

The 420a is a super easy engine to learn on. super easy to tear down and rebuild too. the most difficult thing about the 420a is putting the passenger side motor mount bracket on with the engine in the car LOL god awful long bolts in a tight space and even thats not that hard. as far as boosting this engine though i would say its not something i would do. its a good engine but not a powerhouse. save for a gsx or gst. A good gst can be had for around 3500 in my area, and a great gsx can be had for around 6500. (These are all factory btw which is the only way i would buy a car that i plan on making a project.)
