ive looked around with no luck. just picked up the 98 engine and it came with the ecu and harness. ive got a 96 manual tranny. the ecu is even marked a/t. am i gonna have problems?
Other thing i noticed is on the end of the fuel rail theres just what looks like a tire valve stem. no pressure regulator or return lines?? ive been thru the chilton and it says there is supposed to be a fpr at the end. It also doesnt show and valve stem there either.

It's worth a shot. I would imagine you would have more problems sticking an M/T ECU in an A/T car than the other way around. You don't have much to lose (you won't destroy the engine), and the pin assignments should be the same... so try it.

The pressure regulator and return line are in the rear of the car, near the fuel tank. It's sort of unintuitive, but it's all there. Only 1995 model year N/T DSM's had FPR's mounted on the fuel rail. The Schraeder valve you found is the test port for checking fuel pressure.
 
itake and keep the fuel system the same on ## car unless ## up gradinng.u can use the a/t ecu with manu. u lose rpm i have a 97 ecu in mu car.did ## car start of as an auto or manul? but if allur doing is swapping motor just take and keep ## stock fuel rail.
 
thanks for the help. another thing about the harness: can i splice the 98 harness to the 96 original where it goes into the firewall? This seems easier than going into the dash. Just a bunch of shrink tubing and solder.
