Well since I'm a "new member" I can't post this is the appropriate thread, and yes I have "researched" but I cannot find a similar problem. I have a limited amount of time so I need an answer, or at least some advice, quickly if possible please.

Just a few days ago, it's been getting harder and harder to shift. Now yesterday, as I was going to drop off some resumes that a hiring agency had requested so I can get a job, shifting was incredibly difficult (the clutch acted like it wasn't even working, as the gears were grinding into place and 1st and 2nd were the hardest to shift into. First gear literally dumped the car, making it throw forward and backward and making a loud noise, idk how to describe (like you you slam into rev. too soon)).

It revs high in neutral, every time. When it "idles" in first, it's not where it should be. (should be around 800 and its around 1k) Also, the car really wants to go. As soon as I let off the brake it wanted to shoot forward. When braked, the car vibrates like the brakes are barely holding it back.

I had my son in the car so I had to take the car back home and get the truck in order to drop off the resumes. I haven't drove it since.

Please help, is there anyone with similar experience or knowledge on this subject? Is it the transmission or clutch? The fluid in the Dot-4 container is full.

Sounds like you have a problem with the clutch system more than the transmission itself. You could have a problem with the clutch master cyl, clutch slave cyl, clutch release lever, TOB, etc. The first thing I would look at would be to see if the slave cyl is actually moving the clutch release lever on the transmission. It sounds like it's not pushing it far enough to let you get in and out of gear correctly. Usually 1st, 2nd, and reverse will be the hardest to find when this happens so give that a looksie. Good luck :)

Alright, well I wanted to go through everything and make sure it wasn't something simple first, so I bled the clutch and there was a ton of air in the lines. So maybe I have a leak or I just wasn't paying attention to the fluid levels, but now I'll have to keep a closer eye on it.

Thanks for the help! It's working fine now. The O2 sensor is bad, I'm pretty sure ### the exhaust is really low and not loud at all like it should be, and the engine light is still on, but it's had a few misfires before that weren't fixed (couldn't figure out what was wrong), so maybe this is one of them and when I get that replaced it'll be fine.

If you had air in your lines, then you have a leak somewhere. Check for wetness under the boot on the slave cylinder's push-rod, and inside the cabin where the clutch master push-rod comes through the firewall, as well as any joints in the line.

similar thing is happening to me

Check all your lines for leaks, check the master and slave cylinder, check the clutch line. It could be a number of things, for me the stock hardline from the slave was corroded, causing air to get in my lines and my clutch fluid to leak.

Also, check the cap that holds the clutch fluid in it (it's the smaller reservoir on the firewall, to the right of the brake fluid). If the cap is loose, it could be letting air in the lines too. Could be as simple as replacing a faulty cap, or reservoir.

Keep us posted and we'll try to help out, but I hope it's nothing big.

If anybody had been following this, the slave cylinder was bad, as well as the hard lines to the clutch/slave. I replaced both of those and no more problems!

18 months later though... I'm guessing this isn't your daily driver, huh.LOL
Glad to hear you got it figured out though and thanks for letting everyone know what worked for you.

Well I fixed the issue shortly after my last post, but I didn't have a lot of time to visit the forums again. My life is pretty hectic, and until recently I have't been on the PC much. Sorry for taking so long, haha. And yes, it was my DD, but I traded it for a 97 Spyder GST earlier this year.
