I have a leaking valve cover i wanted to redo the thing in every way, I ordered an MLS gasket and in the process of getting my valve cover chromed, well i wanted new head bolts so, i called ARP they said that a neon kit was coming out in a month or so I was wondering if this would fit our 420A, looking at pics of DoHC Neon's the valve cover looks different i just wanted to know if anyone has put Neon head bolts on? or found a bolt kit for our application? thanks for the help :dsm:

Hey guys i know this is a really old thread but i orderd a set of ARP head studs from ci motorsports they say there for the 420a but when they came in they say neon on the box will they still work? It does have the four outter that are smaller and the 6 inner that are longer!

I hope i dont have to ship them back to CI.

Yea thanks bulletdsm i ended up calling arp and they said there are the same thing and also told me to torque them all at 30 60 then 80 for the final sound ok?
Yup, I do go to 90 on the arps, but many people do many different numbers. Just be sure to follow the pattern and do the progressive torque (and don't forget your lube packet). 80 will be fine for your application

I forgot to mention they also told me that after each torque back the nut off. Example torque to 30 loosen nut, 60 loosen nut, then to the final of 80. Im just woundering whats the purpose of backing off the nut??

Old thread but cant find a good answer. I am redoing my headgasket. So should a guy back of the nut after each progressive step? What should the final torque specs be for the headbolts on a 420a if I am running around 25+psi. Should I stick with the 90lbs or a little more?
