Sutton,
Hi!!

I would like to upgrade the front brake system on my 2GNT....I wanna know what you guys think about it and what would I need??

-Rotors
-Pads
-Calipers
???Brackets???
??????????????????????????????

Thanks :thumb:

If there was a thread about that I'm sorry the one I swa was about a first genOMG

You would want to get these items:

-dual piston calipers from a 2g GSX (as to avoid needing the special RRE adapter SS brake lines)
-caliper mounting brackets and other associated hardware (U-clips, bolts, nuts, washers, shims if necessary)
-2g GSX rotors
-2g GSX pads

Other nice things to get:
-SS brake lines
-SpeedBleeders (to make 1 man bleeding extremely easy and quick)

The difference between the 1g and 2g dual piston calipers is how the lines attach. The 1g calipers have direct screw in lines while the 2g calipers have banjo bolts. If you happen to get a set of 1g's on accident (or for a good price), you'll need to get the RRE SS adapter lines.

And some good links:

Gee thanks man....really helpful information....I'll try to take the 2G awd system cause I already have Goodridge SS brake lines at all four corners...

And thanks for the links

Edit: Do you think I can easily get 2g AWD or 3000gt SL brake caliper in a scrapyard???

And what actually is the banjo fitting??? The pics in the other thread you linked me were too old and don't work anymore...

Thanks

This is a banjo fitting...

The GSX calipers use a banjo fitting, which is the same as yours.

3000gt SL calipers will have a screw-in type fitting (it will be threaded at the end), so you would need new lines.

You might be able to find calipers at your local junkyard. I would also recommend searching the classifieds on here for "calipers" under 4G63 parts for sale. I saw a few GSX part outs that had the calipers and such listed, but with no price. There was also some adds that did have prices. You might also want to check eBay and DSMtrader.com. Just try and get ones off of a working car (from someone who upgraded maybe) so that you don't have to rebuild the calipers.
