I have a 420a engine that I am rebuilding and I am planning on running like 20 psi of boost. The only problem I am having is finding a crankshaft that will be able to handle that. Will a stock crank handle that. Looking for Info. Thanks

Yes the stock one will be just fine. The last owner of my car claims the motor made 700hp with a lil different turbo and fuel setup, And its still got stock the crank

Key CLAIMS....that hp record still has not been set for a 2gnt

Yea i know the the key is claims...But i didn't know that it would be a record thoughWTF. Once again he CLAIMS it was on a engine dyno with a t-67 with 175 shot nitrous. Which i doubt but i just said ok:rolleyes: But if 700hp is a record for a 2gnt i might just have to start chasing that record some day:dsm::talon::laser:

I would just tear drop and polish the journals on the crankshaft and have it balanced if you are that concerned about the crank.

GET in line for the record..look were i started out and you see were im at now!! LOL

OP, you need to not think of boost in terms of power (alright, that sounds funny). What I mean is 20 pounds on a 14b does not equal 20 pounds on a 42r. I think you can see the difference.

And I believe that the stock crank will have no problems in either case.

(700 hp, heh heh)

Absolutely. Throwing around a boost pressure without mention of CFM (or turbine specs) is a sign of someone who doesn't really know what they're talking about. You don't build for Xpsi. You build for Xhp.

And 700hp. That's crazy. A good 100hp above the highest HP numbers I've ever heard spoken by someone capable of attaining them.

Everyone just wait till my car gets dynoed!!!

Yes i know about the boost equals X amount of weight i have tons of books on turbos and turbocharging. But i was just assuming he was refering to a t3/t4 or something along that size....BUT you know what they say about assuming its the mother of all #%^ ups

OP- Your crankshaft should be fine. Howell Automotive actually sells forged crankshafts for $400 or so if you are really apprehensive you may want to pick one up. Though I think it's unecessary, do whatever suites you.
