New motor bad oil leak above filter.

Ok just dropped my motor back in and got it all plugged up and went to turn it over to make sure everything was running right and heard dripping. Looked under the car and from the back passanger side of the motor above the filter there is a bad leak , it gushes out when turning over. This is one of the times i was not present and doing the work on the motor when it was being built. And as this is my first 420 build im not sure what the problem is , it looks as if there is a missing gasket almost. There are a few ( 4 i think) holes that look like a bolt could be run threw. Its not comming from the filter or sensor. In red is where the leak is comming from and where the line runs as if it should have a gasket. Any help would be great.

Yup and a new alternator belt (sorry the hazards of posting a pic). See the photo below for the bedplate screws layout (courtesy of Corbin's rebuild link). Sesame Street hint: Brought to you by the letter K

I just found the 2 missing , they were still in the bag and even marked i'm guessing they were overlooked. I was waiting for the alt belt comment haha , i'v got a new one on already . Hopefully the car will be finished in the next few hours.

Thanks for the input....but as i stated at the first post i was not present when this was assembled by a shop i won't return to. The car is 4 hours from where i now live and the only time i have to work on it is during holidays or weekends. All is good now though she is all together and off the stands for the first time in almost a year! All that is left is the exhaust and then of course all the fluids and start it up tommorow.

help please

Hi I am new to this forum and I would appreciate anyone who is willing to help me. I have a 98 Eclipse with the 420A and the story is that i got the car with the motor in a box. yeah i got the block that is stripped and the head that is off the block with everything out. I have a bucket of bolts and parts. It was taken to a machine shop to be bored and resurfaced and all that fun stuff, well the the previous owner never put it back together. Now I get too, so what i am asking is anyone who has detailed pictures of the engine assembly, side views top views inside, WHATEVER YOU HAVE IS HELPFUL. I just need to see where things bolt up and if there are any close ups it would be nice to see the style of bolt that is used in different places. I am an engine builder so I have the experience to put it back together its just that without pictures its going to take a while to figure everything out. Also out of curiosity is there any good places to buy a rebuilt long block for a good price. I am in spokane washington and our local engine supply places dont have them. Thanks to anyone who posts pics for me. Have a great day.

I would tread slowly and make sure you do things right. I would remove the bedplate and oil pump altogether, clean all surfaces and apply fresh anaerobic. Anaerobic sealant only cures in the absence of air: there's probably no sealant in that big gap where the bolt was missing.

I'm probably a little late with that bit of advice, but better late than never.
