Ok well here is the problem, I'm building a 420a for a friend. This is my very first complete build, the problem/question I have is the following.....with the pistons and rods that my friend gave me to install he game these ACL bearings but there is a gap when I installed the bearings (see pics)
Is this normal? Is the gap supposed to be there? or do we have the wrong bearings?
The pistons are ITM pistons .20over (block was also bored .20 over).
Thanks guys......

Yes the gaps on the sides of the bearings....

Make sure you got the bearings for the right year! Early 420a's had a little bit different bearings in them(I know the mains are but rods might be the same)

Does the thrust bearing fit? I don't remember from my build, but I believe those "gaps" are supposed to be there... if the thrust bearing fits then you're fine.

The reason for my um. That is correct.

The bigger question is when you bolt it on to the crank do you have the correct tolerances. Did you have a machine shop check the crank for taper, out of round and service limit?

Also, just a good reference if you haven't gotten it already;

I'm a little concerned by the question. Please feel free to search and ask if you have other concerns.

Thanks for all the help guys. Talked to the machine shop and we have the right bearings, the crank was polished but they double checked our bearings and said we had the right ones. Put the pistons in and mocked up the head for a pic.....Thanks again for the responses.
