medicine hat,
im just writing this to see how many people would rather get rid of there non-turbo...than keep it...personally id rather keep it and upgrade it....im not trying to be the fastest just trying to open others eyes to what my cars capable of...and maybe make them smile :D and say...."WOW that cars pretty quick for being a N/A 2.0L"...well least those are my plans....lemme know what you guys think of your NON-TURBO cars!

Yeah, I have been thinking about turboing my N/A, but I don't know if I am gonna do it.

I have a Special edition 1994 talon es, with the very hard to find 164hp 4G63K motor. I have done a few minor mods, including exhaust (13hp on the dyno jet, just race cat and 2 3/4 cat back, to a flow thru glass pack) and an egr block off (gave my car a big increase, 20hp on a dynojet). Right now it has an amazing 197hp on the dyno jet (for an N/A, damn). It weigh only 2600lbs (even less then the normal N/A's, because of the differences in the special edition) (2743lbs with me in it).
Using the Trap Speed method backwards (a little algebra needed),

hp = weight * ( speed / 234 )^3

197 = 2743 * (speed / 234)^3

197 * 2743 = speed^3 / 234^3

0.071819176084578928180823915421072 = speed^3 / 12812904

0.071819176084578928180823915421072 * 12812904 = speed^3

920212.20853080568720379146919431 = speed^3

speed = cubed root of (920212.20853080568720379146919431)

speed = ~ 97.26635 mph

And the ETA Method

hp = weight / (eta / 5.825)^3

197 = 2743 / (eta / 5.825)^3

197 * (eta / 5.825)^3 = 2743

eta^3 / 197.645890625 = 2743 / 197

eta^3 / 197.645890625 = 13.923857868020304568527918781726

eta^3 = 13.923857868020304568527918781726 * 197.645890625

eta^3 = 2751.9932892607868020304568527907

eta = cubed root of (2751.9932892607868020304568527907)

eta = ~14.0135 sec

(Wow using this, you can find out any projected Eta and Trap Speed, just hope you like algebra... ewwwww, it drives me crazy, even worse is for my major I need to take all college level math classes up to Calc 3, There goes my future weekend racing days!!!)

Now, I don't know about you, but that is just faster then the times of the TSI's and GS-T's, and even faster then the GS-X's.

Running a 14.0135 @ 97.26635 mph. That is pretty good, Just slower then the early 90's 5.0 and the newer 4.6's.

And just think about it, When I put in this Cyclone Throttle Body, and Manifold I bought, (and still to buy) a 2g MAF with a KandN Cone Filter, Headers, fuel injectors, fuel pump, Fuel controller. My car will soon be looking at low 13's, pos. high 12's. And taking a vette of the line, and hanging with a zo-6, sound good to me, lets see them laugh at my little 4-banging rice burner then.

thats awsome!!!! your lucky to have come across that car! what didja pay for it??...and if i was you i wouldnt turbo it...just for the braging rights haha..your gonna be able to take the non-turbo time!

No, it is the same as the 4g63, but has ralliart forged pistions, and bigger rods, with larger fuel pump and injectors, and better timing.

Then I added exhuast, and the egr block off. And now today I purchased a cyclone mnifold and tb to put in. Power and power and power OH MY...

that is quite impressive and fast for a n/a, not to stick up for the turbos but what if you take that money you put into your n/a and put it into a gst or gsx who would be faster then.

I bought the car from a 60 year old guy, who got it as an incentive from egale (he was a company VP), It had 60k on it and was in awsome shape, except for one tail light that was cracked. I bought it for $1600, $250 to regester it, $250 for tires, $300 for bigger altenator and new battery, and $160 for the exhaust (my friends muffler shop did it, only charged for the parts), and $100 for the new cyclone manifold and TB (in perfect condition, with a working butterfly valve - checked under vacum and preasure) Pics of the cyclone to come, If anyone wants one, e-mail me, they would be the same $100 for the Manifold (sorry no more TB's) but the valves do work.

My Friend that is selling them, has one on his 1996 GS-T and it gave him on a dynojet an extra 45hp, damn I hope I get similar results, will let ya all know.
