when i go down to "bonnie & clydes" exhaust shop and im gunna have a custom 2.5" exhaust downpipe made and supply a muffler, what should i ask? Could you guys make a 2.5" diameter stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust system for my car and weld on this muffler? or what..and what does "mandrel" mean anyways.. LOL i just know its a good thing:rolleyes:

yep ..ask them exactly that. the shop near me told me they could custom make me a 2.5" pipe for $100.

mandrel is the tool that they use to bend the tubing. old fashioned factory exhaust used a crimping meathod to bend the exhaust thats why they had ribs on the inside of the bend. Mandrel bent tubing holds the tubing to a uniform shape and keeps it smooth, also since it is a smooth bend it helps HP thats why everyone uses mandrel bent tubing. even the factory uses it now.
