Im doing the oil feed line for my turbo and I have to unhook the oil sending unit bolt off the back by the firewall...I can't seem to get anything in there and in the guide it says it might need a "special tool". Does anyone know anything that would work without having to buy a tool for a one time use. Thanks. :dsm:

you need a oil sender socket. i is a deep funny looking socket. you can get one at autozone for about 7 dollars. when you get it, get under your car and unhook the connector to the sender. put the socket on a socket wrench and take that sucker off. very easy job with the trip to the store it shouldn't take you over an hour.

be VERY careful when you remove that piece of junk. I've broken 2 of them, they are 90$ to replace. After I broke the second one I installed a mech. oil pressure gauge instead.

ALSO what I recently found out --that oil pressure sending unit doesn't really sense oil pressure, it senses when their is no oil pressure and then turns the dummy light on....replace with a real oil pressure gauge if at all possible...

I broke mine too, guess we're just dummies huh...but you're dummy^2 :tease:

For me a new one was only $40, so I guess it's just wherever you are located, but still be careful when unbolting it.

LOL yep. I know anybody walking passed my garage the 5 min after i broke it..well i hope they didnt have any kids with them.

where did u find it for 40$?

damn mine was even less than 40, ninety sucks

anyways after you unplug the wire it should take a 1 1/16 inch deep socket to get it out

Thats what I used at first too-- it ends up being too large when you really neeed to put some force onto it (like when your screwing it back in). For a while what I did was put small drill bits in the channels of the 1 1/16in socket. Taped them in, that kinda worked.

I guess I never checked the local auto-parts stores I just bought it from mitsubishi.. only did it once tho :)

who cares if you break it...just get an electric oil pressure gauge and be done with it :thumb:

100% agree. It really is a piece of crap.
