4G64 to 4G63???

My brother owns a Galant with the 4G64 engine and was having some problems with the engine and was asking me where to find a new engine and just do a swap. I told him to possibly look at junk yards for an old 4G64, but then I thought he might be able to swap it with a 4G63. Does anyone know if a 4G63 will swap into and if it does is it a direct fit or will it require custom fabrication. If it does fit he could find a 4G63t (or import one ) and have a turbo Galant. Any one that knows reply back or if you have friends that know talk to them thanks.

it may work. I don't think all the mounts will line up directly, and you may need some custom fabrication, but i'd be willing to bet its possible.

i htink hes right. i dont know if the mounts are the same.

but if you do do the swap ill take the 4g64 crank off of your hands:laugh:

same basic engine block, it bolts right in after switchihg the motor mount brackets and motor mounts.
