My car burns oil extremely bad so I know the rings are gone so I just want to know how much have you guys paid for a rebuild. Should I just replace the rings and just check everything else out or what. I am going to have a shop do this becuase I am not that inclined. Also if anyone knows a good shop in Louisiana I need the number because they are not any good ones here in Lafayette. Thanks in advance. Later

Also what is a good stop leak to keep it from burning so much oil.

yea man that's tearing at the internals, and if your not inclined i would take it to the shop....unless you have "the mad scientist" on your side  .

Umm check howellautomotive for prices on piston rings, i beleive its not over 150 then a shop will charge you probably anywhere from 50-100$/hr.....so with coffee breaks (is that only in miami?), the real labor, and their jacking off time LOL might run you another $100-$200.

If you have the money, while you are in there, go to the land of fordgness

People are probably gonna flame me on this one but oh well.
I had a rear main seal leaking a little(at least I thought it was). I used the lucas oil additive, the leak really stopped. That shit thickend up the oil so much that it had the consitancy of maple syrup when you ran the dipstick it would not drip off. My car ran about 20 degrees cooler as well(i assume from the better oil coverage) I run a synthetic oil with a wix filter, I have not had a drop of oil on my drive way since I started doing this every 3 months(I don't even come close to driving 3 thousand miles on my car in that time) I am very satisifed, try it :thumb:

I love addatives, but its always better to fix the problem. I won't put addatives in my talon, but you better believe I use them in my winter car.

Here we don't have a "winter"per say
That is the only addative....well I use marvel mystery oil as a fuel system cleaner once every three months, I have nice clean filters :D

I hope you fully let that car warm up and thin the oil out before you beat on it. That's called a band aid fix. Ofcourse it doesnt leak anymore, you've got oil so thick it can't. Imagine that thick oil trying to flow to your pistons, rods and wrist pins... :thumbdown

It stays coated,, thats whats great about it, I have no rod knock, the car actually runs better

I am going to try the Lucas additive tommorow. It may be an additive but at least it's Lucas. I use that stuff in everything I can and it just seems to make everything smoother. Don't know why I never tried it in my engine though. Redmachine I use to go to the track in Baytown, do they still have import night.
