Punching out cat

you really wouldn't get any big gane from it unless you got a catback exhaust. i have a hi flow cat with a catback 2.5in exhaust and it made a big diference. it would't be harmful to your engine, but i would recomend getting a hi flow cat off of ebay than punching your old cat out, just my opion.

what does punching out a cat mean? sorry if it's an ignorant ? but i'm getting a high flow cat and performance muffler off ebay..so i figured i should know

Punching out the cat on an N/T car is worthless since removing so much back pressure kills even more low end power. Add a high flow cat, stay street legal and you'll see the best results.

When i put the exhaust on my 1.8l with hi flow cat i noticed power in all rpm range, i didn't loose much low end power or at all, but i also have a intake and underdrive pulley and i'm really amazed, i think the exhaust did the most i mean i noticed a big power gain and noticed i started getting ALOT better gas milage. my car runs ALOT stronger and not as lazy, it gets up to speed alot faster! and my wheels weigh like 50pnds each LOL so they are prolly holding it back alot to.

this is kinda off subject but, i am about to rebiuld my 1.8, i did have a engine with 40k on it comeing but it got LOST in shipping !! i will be rebiulding the engine in it and try to go performance on most of the parts. my hp goal is 150 without nitrious, i have alot of plans for my 1.8 and hopfully start it this month or 2 or whenever it WARMS up! it feals
like i'm contanly saying this but the weather SUCKs here and its hard to do anything when one day its 70 and the nexted its like 30 and snowing. LOL o well ill get it started somtime this year
