Is my exhaust too good?

I already have a 2.5 catback exhaust on my 1995 Eclipse. I want to put on a straightpipe but I am unsure of the thicknesss to buy. Should I buy a 2.25 or a 2.5 straightpipe?
If I buy a 2.5 straightpipe, is that going to be too much free airflow for my four cylinder?
Will a 2.25 straightpipe be quieter than the 2.5?

Both are gonna be loud as hell. Our cars really wouldn't benefit from that. You would lose out on the bottom end of the power band. While our cars are NA, we need the backpressure.

I have a Racing Medalion cat back and whil I am not sure of the diameter, I think is pretty good.Yes it does lag below 2000 RPM but how much driving do you atually do in that range of the motor anyways???

While that may be true, the slight increase that you gain on the top end isn't worth losing what little we have on the bottom IMHO. Now if you turbo your car, this changes everything.

My friends 97 Rs has 3", and it blows a$$ below 2grand, does pretty good above. He beat a trans am the other day, of course he was spraying...
