I'm thinking about keeping my N/T an N/t but I wanna get some more power out of it. I read the threads about all-motor setups.

Here's what I'm thinking about doing.

Right now I'm working with an E-Bay aluminum intake pipe with a K&N filter on a stock air can with the "can" cut off so it's just a ring to hold the filter on. I cut out th metal behind my passenger-side headlight and took the rubber seal off the hood above the headlight. I've also got an OBX Racing 4-2-1 stainless header and I'm going with a 2.5" exhaust, test pipe and straight-through muffler. I've got 8mm Accell wires and SplitFire plugs in there as well, and Mobil 1 10W30 full-synthetic with Lucas Oil Stabalizer. 90K on the motor.

I wanna get a set of cams and higher-compression pistons to add a bit of power, and bigger injectors with a 255LB fuel pump and FPR to support them and an ACT2100 clutch. My question is what's the biggest cams and highest CR I can do on 93 octane without excessive knock on stock rods, stock head, TB, etc. I'll probably do some head work down the line, but for now I'm just wondering what I can do with CR and cams and fuel.

Would I be able to run 10:1 or higher? Or am I pretty much limited to 9:1? Will I need a new ignition running higher CRs liek that or will the stock one work?

So basically this is what I got:
Hard intake pipe
K&N filter
Stock MAS without air silencer or smaller honeycomb
Stock head
Stock TB
Stock intake manifold
OBX 4-2-1 headers
2.5" exhaust, no-cat, straight-through muffler

And what I want to do next is:
Cams (272s?)
Forged Pistons (10:1?)
255lb fuel pump
FPR
Bigger injectors (400cc?)
ACT2100

Think this will have any effect on power? Will I be able to get anything out of it without the head work? Will I need a new fuel-rail? What's the highest CR I can do with 93 octane? Will it give me anything without porting the intake/TB?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get all my info together before I do anything.

Thanks for your time.

Right now I am running 10:1 with forged eagle rods and pistons on my daily driver. The highest octane I can find is 93 and that is only at a few stations, so there have been times that I was forced to use 91, and I haven't had any problems with detination. Knock isn't really a concern until you add nitrous or go insane compression. And I have just the turbo cams in for now, I will be upgrading to either 262 or 272 by the time I am done with my project. But cams shouldn't effect what octane to run, the only real negative side effect of larger cams is rough idling. With all of my mods listed I was running good until I added the MAFT and custom CAI, now I am running piss lean on the stock fuel system. So my next step is FPR, pump and injectors. So you should be fine with what you've got in planned.

for the money it would cost you to do wot you'r listing you'd be better off rebuilding the bottom end and stroking it out to a 2.3lt and upgrading you're head later on,by stroking you're motor it will give you more torque then horsepower but that isn't a downside, having more torque will throw you off the line better,an tp up you're horsepower after the bottom end rebuild you can upgrade you're head and port you're TB then you'll ruffly match the horsepower to torque ratio and should have a decent N/T to mess around with.Peace!
