Hey Dsm'ers,
I'm pretty new to this drivetrain stuff, but my stock clutch on my 90 Talon Tsi is going out, so I'm looking at buying a spec stage I or stage II. First of all, I'm probably shooting for around thirteens eventually, so which clutch would be the best mix of streetability and being able to hold well for a low thirteen's maybe high twelves car.
Second, do I need to buy anything besides the new clutch. I've heard of people getting new flywheels or having their old ones resurfaced or something. Can I get by with just the new clutch, or is this project going to end up costing a lot more than 3-4 hundred dollars.
Thanks,
Jeff

I highly recommend resurfacing the flywheel, but all you need really is the clutch kit (plate, disc, bearing, pilot)

Even if you buy a new flywheel, you should still make sure the step is to specifications (.610??? someone confirm this)

Also if you are goin to 13s, go get a SPEC Stage 3 (6puck).

I've got one, and the pedal pressure feels almost stock! The clutch bites hard as all hell too. It is good for over 400ft/lbs of torque.

There will be some getting acustomed to the very short "play" area between disengaged and fully engaged, but it is real easy.
