OBX has new 4g64 manifold (looks similar to ERL Placement)

Looks like a copy from the old SFP manifolds! I use to have a SFP T3 manifold, and there is no way the housing will clear the block without some type of spacer...
Dave, we ran the SFP on that shitty eBay 35R which had a .82 turbine housing, and it cleared the block just fine. :thumb:

That manifold and turbo is why I grinded a hold in my block isn't it?

Haha I honestly don't even remember at this point, buddy....we've tried so many different turbos and manifolds over the years before finally settling on the ERL.

Seems to me the block grinding happened before the SFP manifold, but I can't remember what turbo or manifold we were using at the time! Perhaps it was one of those Turbonetics cast units?

Paul, they do sell the 4g63 ramhorn still. I was looking for this awhile back. I was surprised.

OBX TURBO MANIFOLD ECLIPSE TALON GST GSX 4G63 T3 90-99

Well this is the one I am running. I must say I have used several manifolds in the last 10 yrs and I was definitly surprised with the quality of the ramhorn. The tubes that the manifold are made of are nice and thick I found out just how thick when I cut off the wastgate flange and repositioned it. Its holding up very well no cracks whatsoever to date.;)

I don't think the seller know what car the thing is for here is another ebay listing the same with different years:confused: OBX Gray T3 Turbo Header Manifold 00-05 Eclipse 4G64 | eBay

Manifold arrived today. Feels lighter than I expected. (6LBS) Can't tell much from just looking at it but it "looks" nice. Not crazy about the packaging. It was just tossed in an OBX box with some plastic sharing wrap on it. The WG flange had poked through the box slightly. I'm sure it was drop kicked to it's destination like most usps items. No visible signs of damage though. I'll get some detailed pics up. later tonight or this weekend.

Let me know if it fits on the 4g63 head. Also take a few pics. Thank.

Got to play a little today...

It fits, and very well! The 18cm Holset housing even fits. Down pipe clearance would be tight but with no PS and a forward facing oil filter. Even with the largest portion on comp scroll centered on the water pump there is plenty of clearance. The water pipe was dented from me fitting a BEP housing on the factory manifold. I'll get one of my spare non dented pipes on the final install. The factory driver side fan will not with with the 18cm housing. But there is room for a slimline setup.

Very nice. The welds do look pretty good. As for the downpipe clearance I think there's as much room as with any manifold. Thanks for the pics I hope that coating doesn't burn off.

I actually ordered one of the new .63 garret housing machined to run with the holset HX40. Was $200 from timsturbos.com. So I was just throwing that huge housing on for others. Now that I know the larger units fit I sort of wish I would have just gone with a smaller holset housing. I'll probably pull the manifold again and scuff/ paint it with BBQ grill paint. Seems to hold up very well on my other manifolds.

These are 400 series SS manifold on my buick. I painted them 3 years ago...first pic.

Second pic is still the same 3 year old coat. Pic taken in Jan. of this year. It greyed abit but the coating is still there.

Alrighty, I'm really curious about this manifold myself, and how it compares to the Punishment budget manifold (T3/T4 TURBO MANIFOLD FOR ECLIPSE/TALON - Punishment Racing). They seem to be the same price, and both T3 manifolds with provisions for a 38mm wastegate. I plan to order one of these two at the end of next week to go with my HX35. I don't see hardly ANYTHING about the Punishment manifold or any reviews. And this OBX manifold seems to be pretty new.

I'm doing a side exit exhaust so I could careless about the downpipe issue. But can't tell how close it'll be to the oil dipstick. I have the T3 BEP .70 housing with the 3 inch v-band flange. Wish there were more reviews on each so I could make up my mind. Decisions decisions.

Only picture I've even seen of Punishment's budget manifold...

Actually, I saw that, but it says 2000-2005. Wasn't sure if it was the same manifold or not. And wondering which manifold would be better (between Punishment and this OBX) if anyone would know....but kinda doubting it right now until more of these OBX manifolds are out there.

The slight angle on the OBX makes a big difference on fitment. I'd go th route. You don't have to dent the water pipes etc... Also if you want to go with a larger housing in the future you won't have to worry about it hitting the block. Grab that $170 del while it lasts. :thumb:

The welds may look good, but it doesnt mean that they are made of quality welding material. One thing I've noticed from all the manifolds I get to look at, over at MAP, is the actual material used to weld and the quality of the metal itself, is the usual fail point. There's some manifolds that I felt like I could snap in half by hand, and looked like they were welded with flux. Not all customers can afford a baller manifold though.
