I have a 98 Eclipse and when I try to fill the tank it keeps shutting off no matter where I have the handle in out slow as possible still kicks off,any one had this type of problem

I have checked everything on it next to taking everything apart,I guess that will be next. I bought it as a drug siezed car and never had a problem untill now,and man does it suck to take 4 or 5 min to put a couple of gallons in.

There are 2 vent tubes that are on the neck of the filler on the tank, when you push the hose into the tank it moves a plastic pieceback that covers one of the vent holes and opens the other one.Mine wasnt moving far enough,so I took the last part of the neck off and took the plastic part out and it seems to be working now.I have only tried it once so far and will get back on how it works after trying it a few more times.
