i have a 95 gst with a few mods, nothing major and i was wondering what would it take to get a 2g fwd into the 12's . i would like to here from people that have mild daily drivers that have broken into the 12's. im trying to get an idea of what direction to go with this car. my goals are simple i want a car that i can drive daily if need be,and beat on at the track some. i dont want to spend a fortune but i would like to get into the mid 12's so lmk what does it take, like what kind of parts?tune? exct.... thanks for the help

Here is a quickie:
16g
walbro 190 or 255
SMIM (not needed but it helps)
ported or evo3 o2 housing
ported or fp manifold
264 or 272 cams or 264/272 combo
a good tire.
650cc injectors
safc

That is it. You can do it on a stock head for sure, but cams always help out.

Sheet metal intake? No, not needed for 12's. Did you mean front mount intercooler? Those aren't needed either, but they help. Ported/upgraded manifold is not needed, but easy to do. Basically a turbo that can push 20psi and the fuel to keep it happy.

yeah guys thanks for the info, i already have a cai, fmic, with hks bov, aeromotive fpr, and right now i have just a 14b turbo, stock injectors, my balance shafts have been removed, and i have arp head studs, but im on stock boost right now,my near future mods are a safc and a logger, some bigger injectors, mbc, and at least a 16g turbo or possibly a 20g, i have heard that the 20g is better for fwd because the turbo lag will help with traction issues. what do you all think about all of this?

Like I said not needed, but it does help. Its good for some cheap/easy hp.
FMIC is not needed. Side mount is good enough.
Stock side mount is good for high 12s, supra side mount or dejon would be better. Or an intercooler sprayer.

I pretty much despise the stock intercooler. It heatsoaks way to quick at 280 whp for my taste. I would say its highly recommended to change.

That 14b can get you there. High 12s are standard for that turbo. The key here will be the driving and traction. You are going to need some nice tires. Some 650 cc injectors with an evo 9 fuel pump would easily supply your needs. 12s are cheap.

Slicks should be your first purchase. They will lop ET off in a hurry.

Mu stock 1g fwd with an afc and boost contolle went 13.50's. Just get a full turboback, fuel pump, boost controller and SLICKS. You could run 12.50s full weight on race gas if you can drive.

Agreed... LSD and SLICKS!!! I'm sure it can be done without slicks, but you WILL be fighting for traction. Drag racing a FWD car takes paitence and skill!

Look at it this way... The 89 Shelby CSX I have runs a teeny VNT-t25 turbo, The car spins 1st, and 2nd HORRIBLY and even spins into 3rd at the track. Mind you this on on a car rated at 190HP. LOL! It runs 15.0's and traps the in the 94-96mph range...with horrid 2.4-2.6 60ft times. So yea, my advise is make sure you got all the help you can get for traction; otherwise you won't be able to make use of the extra power. Oh and practice launching!
