negative, there is nothing. the manufacturer (or the guy working out of his garage) suggested push tabs and 3m tape. Im not sacrificing my $550 2gb bumper with fresh paint on it for a cf piece that looks like its worth $15. I just used ALL 3m tape so after i installed the damn thing i could quickly remove it and use goo gone to get rid of the evidence. if you want pictures of the install ive got those too... just let me know. How does it get installed? Is it a sticky backing?
It looks exactly like what it is... a cheap CF overlay.
A cheesy simulated carbon fiber stick-on vinyl film would look better (but please don't do that either).

We pop the lips off of a mold, hold them up to a 2gb rear bumper and then go along with the process. As has been said in every other post e-mail us and we will more then make it right by you. Yours was not sanded properly... We need to re do that lip bottom line. I checked the books and you recieved the third lip We produced... The first 5 are going to look the worst out of the bunch. That was our first run, first time seeing problems and first time fitting the product. We are also offering to the first 5 people if they want there corners rounded we can do that at no charge and pay shipping back to you.
The photo above was done on a computer, there were other pics of a prototype lip we made as well.
We have a shop not a house garage, we make nice products at great prices, this was our first run and there will be flaws. Customers can email us [email protected]
I'm at least glad you guys at 386 are owning up to this. It is absolutely true that the first batch will always be exposed to a certain level of risk. I most definitely think that the top cut needs to be straightened out to match the bumper (it looks VERY crooked) and the bottom needs to come out more to completely cover the bottom of the bumper. I also think the rolled edges will make this bumper up the par on where it needs to be. Still lots of potential here.
it definitly gets peoples attention, too bad its the wrong kind. imo it adds an eye sore to a somewhat good looking 13yr old DSM for a low cost of $180.Your right there are a lot of things left open with the production run of this lip. THIS IS NOT A $400 LIP! Its a basic rear lip designed to add a little flare to a somewhat bland bumper.
the uneven cut across the top might be unacceptable to your standards but what about all the other imperfections in the piece? the bumps, waves, the fact that i can hold it up to light and see right through it, etc?The mistake made on this lip is unacceptable however its not uncommon with the FIRST run. We stand behind our products and will fix any mistake to the best of our abilities. From the pics above the only issue i see is the top not being even.
i think the "people" that need to get their eyes checked should be the "people" that made this lip and thought this would be acceptable to put on a DSM. id pay twice as much for something that would actually ENHANCE the look of my car and be a rare piece...people saying vinyl carbon fiber would look better, You should probably get your eyes checked.
problem solved until you want to take off the cf lip because of the reasons listed above and then you've got a ruined bumper...If you do not like how you can see the red on the side of the exhaust, Take a piece of masking tape and cover that area. Once completed take black spray paint and paint the masking tape black, Problem solved.
affordable shouldn't compromise quality... id rather spend $250 on something that will make my car look good than $180 on something that will make it look like ass.Im not going to post on this thread any longer, A lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon and trashing a company that is making products the dsm crowd requests at a price they can afford.

...your inbox on tuners is full.Any questions can be asked via email or PM (we do not log onto this website every day)

this is interesting how 386 customs is still doing business after putting out poor quality parts like that. maybe this cf rear lip will be the last nail in the coffin since its def. in the dsmtuners public eye at how bad of a job they did...
i took a trip to little ceasars to get some pizza and i was embarrased to drive my car, thats the first time since ive owned it ive felt like that. that big cf sticker thats cut cricked is def. coming off.

. Its great that 386 is fixing it, brian always seems to do right by people. Let us know how this "new" one is.The mold has been modified and we will keep modifying it until we reach the point of correction. I thank everyone for understanding and for the input, without it we would have shipped out 27 square shaped lips and would not have had a clue that there was an issue. The first five were put out just for that reason, we are also going to add another layer of gelcoat to our process to remove the occasional wave.
Gofer, your car is sexy... even with a square miss shaped lip
