You will not be able to drain a little of the oil out without creating a mess. If you're really thrifty, find a really clean container and drain it out and pour 4 quarts of it back in.

Cases of overfilling can include the crank hitting the oil causing it to foam. Foamy oil gets pumped into the system. Foamy oil is air in oil. Air in oil can blow seals. It can potentially cause leaks in all the wrong places.
