I have read other posts about removing the crankshaft pulley on a 420a, but nobody else seems to have a problem with the crankshaft sprocket. I have fought with this thing forever and I can't get it to budge. Does anyone know any tricks? I have like 10 hrs in on trying to get this stupid sprocket off. I used a harmonic balance puller and it's so tight that I broke one of the (hard to find, 6mm) bolts off in the sprocket. I chipped a piece on it so now I have to buy a new one (which I haven't been able to find but on one shady website). I am thinking of anialating it to get it off. Any Ideas? I have to hurry and finish this job.

Try using a 5-ton 3-jaw puller to get it off. I had to resort to that tool when I took mine off. Was on there VERY tight.

I actually drilled and tapped mine to a bigger bolt. I cant recall the size right now. I used one of those pullers that look like a chicken foot :p

WTF

Are you thinking of the right part? It's virtually impossible to use a 3-jaw puller without damaging the sprocket... the pulley, of course, is a different beast altogether.

Listen to EsiGoneT-Esi, that's the way to pull a sprocket. Use a large breaker bar or pipe for leverage and go slowly... it'll come.

Get in touch with your local Chrysler dealer for a new sprocket. They're cheap: $20 or so.

Sorry, he mentioned crankshaft pulley in the first sentence so I overlooked the rest and figured that is what the thread was about.
