In this last pic you can see where the valves hit the pistons, in the other pi cs its hard to see...

^Where are those pics?

On Saturday I finally got my car inspected. Then I spent the afternoon putting my test pipe back on and screwed in the AEM wideband. I took it for a drive and tested it out some. It doesn't read on the gauge any richer than 10:1 and I was just barely hitting that sometimes on WOT. So It might be at 9.8 or so. But man does fly for being so rich, only running 12psi, and without touching the DSMLINK tune yet. Now it's time to get my feet wet with tuning.

Also, I only have about 30 miles on my new tires/wheels and I can already tell it's going to make a huge improvement over what I had.

So a stroker will be the replacement huh???

Got my TCE brake kit installed, and they work very well! I'll have pics later.

Nope getting the engine wisecoed and eagled through VIP Garage. I figure the more revs I have the better, I already have problems with power coming out of a corner, I dont need to increase that by adding more torque. If I rev her out though more, I can have more gear to work with.

God I need sponsored or something, all these expenses are adding up! Now that its going to be mainly a track-only car I may pursue some and look at my options at maybe getting one.

Did you properly calibrate the sensor before installing it? That might explain why it's running so well but reading so rich.

You can't calibrate the AEM wideband. There is a calibrated resistor in the sensor that is set at the factory.

AEM - Gauge-Type Wideband UEGO Controller

I would be very concerned about driving the car if it's really that rich (see below). While running that rich gas will get into the oil and you could damage your bearings. With gas displacing the oil, you lose the lubrication properties. The gas can even autoignite due to the high pressure. I've seen damaged bearings with tell-tale marks showing where the gas ignited.

So why did I say if it's really that rich? Widebands do go bad...even new ones. I usually check before the install. They should read very lean in open air and when put in the exhaust stream of a known well running car (a daily driver works well), they should read closer to 14. Have a friend hit the gas and the wideband should show a slightly richer reading and then leaner when the friend lets off. The big thing is that you see a change. A bad wideband usually fails completely one way or the other (full rich or full lean).

Well yesterday I ordered some more go fast goodies for the car yesterday. Drained my PayPal account but thats what its for right? Still more parts to order but the money is short right now. Birthday is Monday though so I am getting some funds for that. I ordered these items:

TD05H EVo III "Big" 16G
16G Install Kit
Megan Racing O2 Housing
ARP Rod Bolts
NGK Powerdex AFX Wideband

Is that honestly too rich? I thought that's what most cars run stock. High 9's/Low 10's AFRs.

I don't think the new gauge is bad. It was doing it's thing on power up and was about 15.2 open air when not running. It was hanging around in the 14's at idle and was going progressively richer the more I stepped into it. At WOT it seemed to be hanging right around 10.2-10.3, but went 10 flat for a second a couple times.

I'll have a better idea once I get another nice day to take it out and actually log it in dsmlink. I appreciate any tips though, thanks guys.

cruizing A/F's should be around the 14:1 mark. WOT on pump gas you should be around 10.5:1 and thats on the safe side. Some guys tune for 11:1 on pump, but I like having a safe zone on my tune for track days. Most drag race guys put in some very aggresive tunes.

I finished up the most of my winter mods:

TCE kit all installed
Test pipes installed
H2O/Alky inject all hooked up

All i really have left now is some tuning, and I am going to play with the suspension a little and try to getter her a bit better balances on my corner weighting scales.

talonTSIDriver - Well I got the ac/heater controls all out last night after we talked. It was the wiring harnesses in there holding everything back. Got most of everything out of that area. Needs some cleaning up now is all. Once thats all done, I will start to fab up the switch & gauge panle that will be going there. I'll take some pics tonight and throw them up here tomorrow.

Well my winter mods should be done by Friday even though it's spring already:D Small 16g,2g manifold and O2 housing and hard uicp, and hopefully new rims and tires within the next few weeks.

Here are a couple of pics I snapped of last night. Like I said, nothing to much to look at but you get the idea of what we have going on for the inside of the car in this area. Got all climate control panels out and will be starting on getting rid of all the wiring that will no longer be needed. looks messy now (it is) but it will soon look 100% better. This is also where the switch & gauge panel will be going as well. And that will house things like the ignition, fuel pump switch, fan switch, lights most likely and wipers. Trying to get the steering column area cleaned up as well. Like I said earlier, its messy as all get out right now. But this is just the 1st stages of it. Doing a little more work on it tonight. Busy, busy all week and weekend. Birthday is Monday so my friends are taking me over to Biloxi (casinos) on Saturday and we are staying at The Hard Rock for some good adult fun. :D :D

Eddie, be careful cutting wires in there - the wiring setup on these cars is such that when you cut out a switch it screws up everything (as I learned the hard way).

The book on the bottom knows everything!!!

Thanks Chris. I have not really cut any wires out as much as I just had pulled some actual wiring harnesses off when trying to get the climta econtrols out. I am not going to go through any of that mess like some have before. I am jsut going to be tucking wires up out of the way so the switch/gauge panel will fit in there nicely. I do NOT want any electrical issues at all man. WAY too much of a headache as you well know man. :notgood:

All that I have unplugged are the climate control harnesses and that is really all that will be unplugged. Everything else will remain. Car fired up and ran good after I did so. I wanted to check and make sure nothing was going to be affected by taking it out. Not sure what or why or how. Just wanted to make sure was all you know? Basically, like I said, just the climate control items have been unplugged and removed is all. And getting the wires out of the way.

talonTSIDriver - What does the "good book" say about climate control harnesses in there for a 2G ??? Am I safe in removing them or no? I would think so, its just the AC/Heater controls.

Didn't realize you were a Tuners member Jake. Car's gorgeous, can't wait to see it get some action.

Some preliminary pictures. Still a good deal of aero work to be done. And I'm fighting witha TPS issue. But since Chris lives out in my neck of the woods I figured I'd post up. And yes I know the hood looks funky, it's not bolted on in the pictures (made it easy to take engine bay shots).

^^^^ Is that seriously not photoshopped? I think I just dropped my pants..

How wide a tire/rim are you fitting on there. And where did you get those fenders? Im not ttoo hot on the rear widebody but functionally I bet its amazing!

They're 285/18's. And the widebody is better than fender flares. Most of my suspension is tubular. The front has some aero work we'll be doing this week then wind tunnel testing afterwards. The brakes just barely clear. They're Alcon XT6 calipers with a 1.375x12.9 rotor. Nothing is photoshopped other than Jess removing the PS cooler line that is hanging down in a few of the pictures. We were still trying to figure out how to do the PS cooling so when we wheeled it out for some early pictures it was still just hanging under the car. Original color was the 95 hunter green (dark green).

What widebody?

Wow. :thumb:

We were still trying to figure out how to do the PS cooling.

I put the P/S cooler under the passenger floor. It's easier than it sounds, and works flawlessly. Takes a couple lbs. off the driver side nose to boot.

Cool, 1 more post and I'm the devil.
