I have a 90 TSI AWD. When I got the car, it had a 91-94 transmission with it. Supposidly, it was recently rebuilt and appeared to be. Ended up finding out that one of the shift forks was broken. I replaced them with EVO forks and all was well. I then found out that there is a problem with 3rd gear. Synchro's is what I figure. Could still shift fine, just can't shift quickly and sometimes downshifting was a problem. Anyway... My clutch died the other day, so, I am replacing it. It should be here tomorrow. I figure, while I have the tranny out, I would check out my 3rd gear. It does appear that the teeth on the synchro are a little worn. I figure I can replace them, no problem. I have the sevice manual and tools to do it. The problem is that I have no idea what synchro to order. According to caps, there are 3 possible numbers it could be for the year '91 to '94. I cannot for the life of me find the answer. I sent an email to TRE and Shep asking if they know how I can identify this transmission too. There is know VIN number on it. The sticker is completely worn. What I need to know, is if the newest synchro will work in my transmission. I can't afford to send it in right now. Just got back from an expensive trip. I don't want to have to put it back it with the bad synchro, just to pull it again when I can get it fixed. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

Just wanted to mention that I did finally find a VIN, but, I'm still trying to figure it out. I know it's a '92, but, I don't know what part of the year it is. Does anyone know where I can get the VIN decoded to find out? The Chrysler dealerships can't find it and it's an Eagle VIN, so, Mitsubishi can't look it up either. Any help would be appreciated.
