    1G OEM U-joint question: Solid or Cross Drilled?

    I just purchased a new "Genuine" u-joint for my driveshaft rebuild, but it showed up and is cross drilled through the center, and the one I just removed from the driveshaft is solid throughout. Did I get a BS u-joint or what?

    Now they tell me that I need work done on the drive-shaft (propeller). They say it needs to be repaired or replaced. Meanwhile I need to use the car for only local commute. If they pull out the drive-shaft can I still use the car as front-wheel? The transmission should not care that it is not...
