I finally popped my valve cover and found some WebCams - HKS regrinds. Looks like 272's reground to Webs 452/228, dated 3-99, which is supposed to be like their version of 264/274. This is according to their timing card. I called them and they said, in nicer words, "these are old, junk & out of warranty", they'd do dealer pricing on a new set @ $500. I'm guessing their new set would still be low quality but I don't really know. I think I'll try to find some stockers until I can bankroll a nicer set.
Anyway, I'd like to run them until I get a new set, but tell me, are they too far gone? I seen one lobe with pitting and others with possible chipping on the sides of the lobe (may be part of the regrind process?). I did not fully inspect them but have pictures.
Also, can anyone identify the components in my cylinder head, or is it all stock? I was told it had a rebuild and valve job, no specifics. The front right oil drain looks to be drilled out? What about the bottom end?
Thanks for helping a newbie who is taking his time and trying to do it right.
