Hey all..Recently got my hands on what seems to be a fairly stock gst..which works for me because I've always wanted one..and really not looking to race just love the car..its a 98 get with 170,000 on it,got it for $650 with a blown head gasket...so I guess I did first things first..which was take the head off and see how bad the damage really was..(I won't be working on anything inside the motor) I know my skill level isn't there and I'm not trying to mess it up..but with that said everything outside of the motor I'll be doing myself..but heads off..blocks fine, so I'm going back with a new water pump, timing belt, radiator, thermostat, valves, and having the head done. So I guess my question is where should I go next? I feel I can't start doing some basic mods since I know the motor is in good condition. Keep in mind this is going to be my daily

Soooooo I'm back, and my baby is out of the shop...after getting the after having the head gasket changed. Getting a new timing belt, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, wires, and a radiator done I'm ready to start playing with it..while it was in the shop i ordered a 3" exhaust, down pipe hard pipes for the side mount, and a intake. They all should be here before this weekend so I guess my weekend will be installing these parts..pics soon to come...gotta wash her first

The exhaust was 245 shipped and the hard pipes were 122 from cxracing not too sure about the brand but I've always been told pipe is pipe so I'm gonna try it out and see what happens..i keep telling myself not to get too crazy with it as this is supposed to be my daily..but today I'm found myself looking at a fuel pump injectors a manifold and 20g turbo..

Not bad! I need some coolant hoses and plug wires then I'll be in the same boat myself. I'ts hard not to look for possible goodies LOL look forward to seeing what you do with it! Congrats on a nice car man.

Lmao crazy thing is after doing all this I still forgot to put the spark plugs in..but hopefully I'll be able to get that done today after work..pics coming this weekend after the exhaust, and intercooler pipikng install..quick question. I shouldn't need a front mount at this stage Right? Like the factory side mount should be fine for now?

Absolutely. I believe there's also some threads about just upgrading the SMIC instead of going for a full FMIC set up. It's been a while since I've looked but if if I remember correctly the mkIV Supra was a good candidate but you'd have to check me on that. I'll see what I can dig up for you today. Also don't forget plug wires!

Amazon prime is your friend.

make sure to run standard copper plugs. Your car likes them better than the iridium or platinum stuff. BPR6es is what you will want.

I got some ngk copper core plugs LOL..i used the search function and found those were good..just trying to find a good wire.. just a random and stupid question..with everything I've done so far have a actually increased and hp?

If not sure what's been done so far
Radiator
Spark plugs
Water pump
Timing belt
Hard intercooler pipes
3" cat back
Test pipe
Air intake

I guess the main question is should it feel any faster on the ole butt dyno

I work at a motorcycle shop and we had some NGK plugs on hand for my car LOL try some of those places. For the wires I'd probably order some online. Pep Boys can get some NGK wires I think for like 50 bucks, though you could probably fine some cheaper. I was looking at some nice 8.5mm red ones for about 80 from Magnecor on extremepsi.com if you want something a little more fancy.

So here are some pics as promised..ill have more in the morning.. dead tired after work

But intercooler piping came in it was wrapped nicely and everything seems well made

Exhaust & Test pipe also came very nicely wrapped also seems like a ok quality will upload better/ more pics in the am

I'm hoping.. tomorrow after work on going to get started on I stalling the ic piping, and intake. Then Saturday try to get the exhaust on..trying to figure out what my next move should be

http://www.ecmtuning.com/ It gets wired into the ECM to let you tune your car. Even with a completely stock setup will let you get performance gains. With any car that has a turbo you'll need to tell it at some point or another what to do with the fuel and air changes you'll see from stuff like an intake and fuel system and obviously keep it running smoothly. Me personally, once I catch up with making sure my car is %100 solid, will be looking into ECMlink before i get too tempted with bolt-ons and other fun stuff.
