Looks good, IV been looking at the sumps but many folks don't all say they work well, I may be mistaken but I think John Freund also may have said it's not great, I could be wrong though as someone here has told me otherwise.

I think they are a great low end security setup, untill the drysump can be afforded,

I'm looking at making a much nicer oil pan soon, fully Aluminum, I'm going to start off with my steel pan and work up from there. I think this route will be a good start for the oil system and protecting the bearings for racing etc.

I believe John ran an accusump in the past. As you said, its better than nothing. Charless Moss was tossing bearings in his autocross car until he installed one. Was fine thereafter. Andrew Brilliant's motor didn't last with one, but he was also pulling over 2g's in the corners.

Street tires is one thing, but once you go slicks, I would imagine an Accusump is the minimum you'd have to do.

Intresting build. I have been autocrossing for the last 7 years. First two were in a mix match of cars. Last 5 have been in my 01 Miata. Been playing in CS and now ES. Even had a blast and went to solo nationals and was 28/55 in the class. Have been debating back and forth of a 7 bolt swap back into the car. Yeah call me crazy with a t-25 and a stock blow off valve. This way I could play in STX. I am not sure if it would catch the twins. With the new tuning rules I could add boost on the baby t-25. Right now with the mods the car would be in SM. So loads of work to make that work. I am going to take mine out when its running again and see what it can do.

Watched some video. Your getting better but still a little late on entries. You slaloms are slow. Try taping up the windshield at an event. Might help getting you to look up. It works when I coach novice people. Welcome to watch a video or two of mine. I will link one below. But from the first even to one of the last this year you are getting good. Just work on that good old driver mod. Also don't be afraid to get close to the cones.

Locally, I think STX could be a fun class, but i've seen some really good drivers in the twins totally demolish the field. That pesky bov still limits you to about 13psi.

Yeah that is what I was worried about. Down here we have some big events. Zmax usually brings 200 drivers. I have been paxing around 30 out of 200 the last few times. With the new tuning rules it would be throwing as much boost as the bov and injectors would take. Granted still need to fight the twins and maybe the 2015 wrx? But right now it would be the twins. Granted I could just go deep down the rabbit hole....into a csp maita. Granted there is a rallycross program starting in our region. Maybe I will go play in the dirt.

I enjoy modding my car. No interest in stockish classes so my vote is CSP!

So do I or at least I used to. My first car is still around. Been kicking the idea of a Cam-C build. Car should make 450whp and 440wrtq when it gets tuned. Right now its sitting with a oil pressure problem. A little suspension and shove some 275 under it. I have seen 305 square. That could be really really fun. Could look into some aero work. Granted finding some spare oem body panels is getting hard for the 96 Firebird. 98+ stuff is easy but everyone has forgotten the Lt1 cars. Well that and Pontiac is dead.

Check for tire clearance on your accusump line. I've circled the tire rub on my car. I think that mark is from over a decade ago, running a 235/40/17 BFG race tire on the stock 17x6.5 (with a .25" spacer), actually cut a 3" long flap into the inside shoulder as I spun out at full lock. Or maybe it was some other time. I obviously clean my wheel wells less often than you do

Good call on that. The hose sits under the frame rail at that point, but i'll be double checking for sure.

NASA/MSNE had its annual banquet 2 weeks ago and I won the autocross rookie of the year! Finished tied for 2nd place in my class and 4th in overall driver points. Feeling pretty damn proud right now!

I was extremely undecided when I first mocked up the flares. I wasn't sure if I liked the look and I really wasn't sure if I wanted to cut up my car to get this to work. Well, the primary job is for it to autocross and do it quickly. I NEED to go with wider/stickier tires. So, its either cut and leave things exposed or throw some flares on and make it look presentable. I have no interest in making this car look hacked up so flares it is.

I've only finished this corner, but its a start and it came out great I think.

Made my cut on the line I drew one inch below where the top of the flare will sit. Angle grinder with a 3 inch cutting wheel zipped right through it.

Used tape again to mock up the flare while I drilled through. I'll be using black oxide coated nuts/washers with nyloc SS nuts to mount to the body. Drilling the first hole was the most difficult as your relying on painters tape and one free hand to hold everything straight. The rest were much easier to get done.

I'll be installing the passenger side front tomorrow night followed by the rears later this week. Goal is to get the car to the alignment shop by Saturday or Sunday.

Also you'll notice in the pictures that my street tires are now mounted to the wheels. BFG R1 slicks off and 285/30/18 Bridgestone RE71R's are on.

Correct. The most difficult part is setting your ride height with room to spare so you don't destroy your tires/fenders. I pointed my gopro on the wheels and went for a spirited drive. This was the last point of measurement for me. Front's were fine. Rear's need a tad bit more room. I'm going to raise the whole car 1/8th inch. Increasing the rear spring rate would do the trick, but I don't want to do that just yet. I want to get a feel for the car with the new bushings first before changing rates again.

The flares are carbonetics. As far as I know, they are the only ones available at this time. I'm not thoroughly impressed with these, but for $300, I'm not going to complain.

Productive night tonight. 3 weeks until the first event so I'm in a little bit of a rush. Would like to be done with a week to spare in order to drive the car around a bit and really make sure everything is good to go. Luckily, we've been having some really warm weather in the northeast the last 2 weeks and I've certainly been taking advantage.

With that being said... I got the passenger side flare on tonight. It was a bit of a disappointment when I noticed that the passenger flare was not a mirror image of the driver side. Its a hair shorter in total width. After some measuring, mocking, more measuring, move a little here, and little lower there, I think I got it as perfect to the driver side as I could.

Once both front flares were on, I pulled them right off. Cleaned them up with Zepp 40 non-streaking spray followed by two coats of primer and 4 coats of spray paint.

Here is what I used.

Came out pretty good I think, for some rattle can paint.

On another exciting note... I picked up ECMlink V3 with OMNI 4 bar map sensor and GM AIT for a pretty good price. You never know what you'll find on FB as long as you're looking every single day. haha

The front flares will go back on Friday night. Rears to go on thereafter. Hopefully get an alignment on Sunday.

Got the front fenders finished up this weekend and the rears mocked up.

I used fender welting under the flares. This gives a nice water tight seal and also some grip between the fender and flare.

Didn't have time to paint the rears as it was back to super cold temps with unusually high winds this weekend. I'm hoping to get home from work before the sun sets and get them painted tonight.

I shed a few tears with each hole drilled into my quarter panel.
