Hello everyone!

Now that I read my thread title it sounds like one of those love ads on a dating site... ROFL

Anyway what it says is true. I currently drive a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. The 2.4l 4g69 version of the lancer family. Its been a great car and Ive certainly had a great time with it. However recently Ive been thinking about getting something else to build in more depth. Sadly the Ralliart never got a lot of aftermarket support so while it was better than other base model lancers when it was made its lack aftermarket support kept it from progressing much... And I am at the point now where it was either turbo/supercharge the car, or start hunting for something like an Evo or DSM.

After some heavy consideration I decided that Im more interested in building a car the way I like it than I am saving up thousands and thousands of spare money to buy a nice one. So Ive decided to look for a 2g GSX or TSI AWD.

Ive done research on how to go about doing the build I want to do. I even have a couple books on building 1g and 2g cars and 4g63 motors. So I wont really be needing any help with any of that stuff... ...yet! LOL :p

I guess my main reason for going ahead and joining is that Im hoping to get some insights on things I should look for when shopping around for a 2g GSX/TSI AWD. I know these cars are getting pretty old now and that I should watch for maintenance things like the timing belt changes and such. But beyond that I dont know what to look/listen/pay attention to while I am out looking for one. So any info on that would be amazing!

Other than that. Im excited to be here. And more excited to finally pick me up one of these cars for my next project! :hellyeah:

Thanks alot everyone! See you around!

General maintenace a good place to start is looking around here, its easier than a random bunch of us telling you what to do or buy anything in doubt replace.

look for tower rust, wheel well rust, and knocking from the engine. other then that you will have to replace control arms suspension ect. energy suspension kits are great when doing control arms. These cars are really picky with its maintenance. Particularly boost leaks. Check records of timing belts, headgaskets. Those will be your costly problematic issues.

Thanks for the advice guys. Knowing any quirks or problem areas is exactly what i was looking for. When i get one if anything seems questionable when Im going over it i will definitely replace it. Knowing any unforeseen and hard to know problem areas is a great advantage when car shopping i think.:thumb:
