Hey all,

As the title states, i'm planning on being a future DSM owner. I'm currently looking into a 95 Eclipse GST 5 speed. Owner claims it has around 160,000 miles. My budget isn't the largest, and this particular car is one of the few that fits into it. My current DD is a 1996 Impala SS. It's been a great vehicle and will continue to be so, but I'm in college and have modded it to the point where it's really not practical anymore (3000 stall, 3.73s, 93 octane tune, lowered about 3" all four corners, ect). Being that this Eclipse would take its place as my DD, I need to know that it won't start falling apart in a month or so after I purchase it.

Right now i'm planning on doing the typical timing belt, water pump, tensioner, ect replacement stuff (which i've actually had the "joy" of doing before to an intrepid, slightly different setup but same overall concept). However, I've never owned or driven a turbo car before so I really need to know where to start so that this will be a reliable vehicle. From the pictures i've seen, it looks like this owner has done a few mods himself but I won't know the full history until i see it in person. Power adders are a for sure thing, but not until I know the car is running right.

I welcome advice, and hope to be a new regular on this forum :thumb:

Welcome! Maintenance Items are a must first before any power adders go on so your on the right track. As far as owning a turbo'd vehicle, you wanna make sure you stay on top of the maintenance. I.E. oil changes, plugs and proper monitoring.

ok cool, maintenance is something I can keep track of. I'm hoping the previous owner will have some idea on what's been done recently. Won't know until I am able to contact him/her

Car must have been sold today, add went down by author :/ time to start searching all over again...
