Hello All, New to DSM!

I'm from mid Missouri, just bought my first dsm, coming over from the Honda world.. I got a '90 Laser base. I've always been a fan of these cars but never found one for this good of a price, too good to be true? probably but I picked it up for $750 so oh well.

It has an exhaust leak from the flex pipe, and after it warms up it has a kind of hiccup every-so-often, and since it's in gear when it happens it bucks. I'm the second owner, the previous owner told me that the problem started before he changed the timing belt and water pump in November. I changed the Plugs and Wires as soon as I got it with NGK plugs and oreilly's premium wires, didn't fix it. the car is bone stock.

i know, I've read all the posts that say, "use the search feature" but anyone with my symptoms has a turbo and they always are checking for boost leak. I don't have a turbo so i don't know what it could be.

So yeah, that's my car, I love it even with the issues! But if anyone has suggestions where to look you could send me in the right direction?

first off, welcome to the community. were always here to help out. I haven't seen those 1.8l's since my first eclipse. that car was fun and you just couldn't make it break down regardless of what you did, I drove it harder than any of my other DSMs and the only thing I ever replaced was the alternator and routine main. atleast you have a manual. I would atleast put a new shifter on it for a little shorter throw.

as for your hiccup issue. im not positive what yours might be but I did have a buddy that had the same thing on his 1.8ll talon and his throttle body was pretty dirty so he cleaned it up with come carb cleaner and it was good from there. hope it helps.

Maybe try running some sea-foam in it. If it has a lot of miles on it be careful because it may remove sludge that are helping out your seals; making your car leak everywhere (speaking from experience).
