Hi. I just got my 91 gsx running on saturday. I bought it from a friend who had someone do the timing belt wrong. It sat for about a year before I purchased it and started to rebuild. The valves where bent badly on all the intake side. Got a used head. Cleaned it. rebuilt it and put it back into the car with allot of other new parts. It started on the first crank. Bleed the lifters got all the ticking to go away and thats as far as I have gotten. It has a little surge to it and the timing is off. All I did was start it and went through the lifter filling procedure and got all the ticking to go away. Like I said I am new to all this but I am a skilled mechanic so I researched everything before I even got started. But so far so good. Now I have to tune it and dial everything in. I have allot of mods to put on it that came with the car but I am going to get it running well first, then mod it later. But so far so good. I was very suprised that it atarted right up on the first try. I ttok my sweet time building the valvetrain and everything else and tripple checked all of my work before even turning the key so that when I did it would run. I am super pumped for this car. Its a 91 gsx stick and I am going to buy my friends 95 gs that he has a ig block and gsx drivetrain for among many other parts he has bought for that car. But i am starting with this one first.

Run away from the DSM world, it will suck you in, and you will become good friends with the tow truck driver. LOL

But welcome.

Problem thatr i still have. idle surge and a little miss, Fan wont turn on, I had to repair two of the cooling temp switch wires on one plug. the upper sensor on the housing. my friend repaied it for me. i think he put the wires in the wrong place in the plug. I think that would explain why the fan wont turn on when it gets up in temp. Any thoughts. Would those wires being hooked up backwards cause a negative reading or is it the same either way?
